With the economy being so bad, it's starting to put many back yard breeders out of business, which is good, except that some without a conscious or care for the dogs they have are dumping them. Please visit http://www.midwestpugrescue.com and read about the cause. They could use any assistance that they can possibly get, especially if you are in the area. Thanks so much!!!

my Happy Birthday

Many, many, many thanks to all of my Dogster friends for all of the Rosettes, Special gifts, and notes of well wishes for my Happy Birthday. You all helped make it special. It was bitter-sweet for me, as my DaSissy and DaBrudder were leaving to go back to Hawaii. They left Cody at a place called a 'kennel' and were really missing him lots, so their vacation time was up and they had to go back, which made us all sad, but we were happy for my birthday, too!

Lucy the Pug

Week before last, DaMomma found a little girl pug for "free" being given away by some Idiot on FreeCycle. She begged this person to let her have the little girl as opposed to some redneck to use for pitbull bait. The person called her that evening and said come get her right then, so DaMomma didn't hesitate! She brought Lucy home, gave her a bath (the bath water was brown), trimmed her nails (five were curled in complete circles from neglecting to have trimmed), and it took four cotton balls/alcohol per ear to get the gunk out of her ears...no wonder she was hard of hearing! All the while, little Lucy was giving DaMomma kisses, as if she were saying "thank you for taking care of me". Little Lucy had an eye protruding, which the lady said had been that way FOR OVER A YEAR! Lucy had been dumped by a breeder we're assuming, since she had prodominant c-section scars. This person found her and let her eye injury go untreated for a year. We desperately wanted Lucy to have a better life with us!! DaMomma took her to our vet to have him evaluate the eye, which he determined needed to be removed. She also needed her shots up to date and desperately needed a dental. When DaMomma went after work to pick her up, our vet asked to wait a couple of more hours to let her fully come out of the anthestia, so DaMomma went back just before closing. When she got Lucy home and was transferring her from the pet taxi to crate, she found Lucy was not breathing! She called the vet's office hysterical! Dr. Mark was still there and DaMomma rushed Lucy back. Luckily we only live a couple of minutes from them. Our Vet worked on Lucy for over 30 minutes trying to revive her, but sadly, Lucy did not recover and went to the Rainbow Bridge. DaMomma has been so very sad. We do not know why God would put Lucy in our lives and then suddenly take her away. A friend said that maybe He knew Lucy's time was close and He wanted her to know what it was like to be loved just for herself before her time came to cross over, and maybe He wanted her to have a nice resting place under our shade trees as opposed to what would happen otherwise. And He may have wanted someone to truly mourn this little angel pug girl...which we do. DaMomma fixed her grave with pretty flowers, a puggy angel and a little windchime bell to ring, telling all that another angel got her wings. We will never forget little Lucy the short time she was with us. We hope she knows we loved her just the way she was and only wanted her to be pain-free and have a happy life with us. Forever we will mourn this little angel girl and are thankful we got to show her true love before she went to be with our Piggy. DaMomma never dreamed when she took the pet cpr class that she would use rescue breathing on one of her own little furkids. She just wishes we could have saved her. Dr. Mark would not give up and tried his very best. We hope Lucy is at peace now...

My goodness, I didn't realize it has been two months since an update. I'll have to get onto my Secretary (DaMomma) about that so she will do better in the future!

Lots has been going on...my handsome Harley and I have been nominated as PugaPalooza's King and Queen of Pugdom for March and April. What an honor! We have had so much fun with our extended families...just a wonderful group.

I've been teaching my little sister on the aspects of being a lady. What a chore and hard work that is! She is such a tomboy. I told her little ladies do not 'ahem'..."fart"...we simply "fluff". We do not run, we stroll, and we hold our heads up and priss when we walk. None of this is registering with her. She's such a Little Stinker. I keep trying in hopes some of my ladylike nature will rub off on her.

We've been working hard at humane fundraising and have lots of projects going. It's such fun helping all of the various animals, knowing our little bit of assistance and caring goes a long way. I am anxious to stroll in the Waggin Trails coming up in May. DaMomma said I may have to use the wagon, since Chloe Mae is going as well. This is her first fundraiser, so I'm having to show her the ropes on that as well.

Harley and I had such fun at the Pugapalooza Luau. We can't wait to do it again. So much stuff going on...such little time. It's hard to fit everything into one day...

Blessings to all...

Well, my little heart is going pitter patter...my handsome Harley has asked me to attend the Valentine Ball with him! Oh my, what to wear, what to wear...so much to do! I'll most definitely have to have a manicure/pedicure. This calls for a day of pampering and primping at the puggy day spa. I want to look my most beautiful for my handsome pugman! ;-)

I have been Christmas Tagged by my galpal, Giz.

Dear Santa Paws,

I have been a very good girl this year. DaMomma says I get sweeter everyday. I am very thankful for all of the new (and old) friends that I've made, and very thankful for my special handsome Harley pug.

Here are the things I would love to have for Christmas:

1. A warm and loving home for the shelter/stray dogs all over our world, where they will have plenty of food and a warm bed to sleep on.

2. For baby sister, Chloe Mae, to be all well again and not have her itchy skin.

3. To get to see my DaSissy and DaBrudder during the holidays.

4. A new squeeky loofah dog...my other one is almost worn out.

5. My Great-Grandma to get all better.

I know I've asked for a lot, Santa, so whatever you can manage will be ok with me, as I know you're under a lot of pressure these days. I loves you and wish you a safe trip on Christmas Eve.

Love, Hugs, and Kisses, Molly Grace

For Christmas, I wish...

For Christmas I wish...

For every dog searching trash cans for breakfast...A bowl filled with food and his/her name printed in bright letters;

For every dog who slept fitfully last nihgt, chained in a frozen yard...A soft, warm bed with a person snoring gently nearby;

For every shelter dog, spending Christmas morning in a soiled run...A forever home, filled with sounds and smells of family;

For every "Christmas" puppy given...A tolerant, caring owner who won't abandon you as you grow into an adult;

For every ailing pet...Enough money for your owner to pay the bills to make you well;

For every lost dog...A clear, safe road, and well-marked path to lead you home;

For every old and tired friend...A warm fire and a soft bed to ease your aches and pains;

and for every Heart Dog at the Bridge...A moment when you know that you are remembered, missed always, and loved forever.
