Arrival Story: We had just lost our Greater Swiss Mountain Dog, deciding how soon one should get a new dog after one has died is merely a personal decision. There is no rule as to when is the perfect time. For us the time was right one year later. After making a couple of phone calls we found a breeder of the Entlebucher Mountain Dog, who was expecting a litter. I love and admire all 4 breeds of Swiss Mountain dogs, but my favorites are the smallest, (Entlebucher Mountain Dog) and the largest (Greater Swiss Mountain Dog). We saw little Emma the very first time when she was only 3 weeks old. Emma comes from a reputable and great breeder in Switzerland. Her birthplace is in the deepest Entlebuch, I picked Emma out of six other siblings,....she had five more sisters and one brother. We visited her 4 more times, before we finally took her with 9 weeks home to us.
Emma loves to travel and is the best travel companion one could have asked for.

Bio: The "Entlebucher Mountain Dog" is the smallest of the 4 Swiss Mountain dogs. Related to the better know "Greater Swiss Mountain Dog" and the "Bernese Mountain Dog" and the less know "Appenzeller Mountain Dog". The "Entlebucher Mountain Dog" is between 16 and 20 inches (42 - 50 cm) tall. They are a stocky, solid dog, with a short dense double coat. In Switzerland the tails are left naturally long. It's against the law to cut tails and ears here. I'm glad, because I'm against ear cropping and tail docking. However a few Entlebucher's are born with their tails naturally docked, we call that in Switzerland the "mutz"=bobtail.
More about my breed under Eleanor's bio.

Forums Motto: Once a EMD always a Entlebucher Mt. Dog.
