Arrival Story: Autumn was a stray in Indiana. We were on a weekend camping trip with our malamute and she found us and stayed with us the entire weekend. She was just a puppy and was full of fleas, hookworms, and losing hair from malnutrition. When we left, we took her straight to the vet's office. A week later, and after she got very attached to our malamute, she joined our family.
Bio: Autumn lived with two big malamute/husky dogs most of her life. She always wanted to be the "lead dog". Now that she is the only dog with 3 cat siblings, she still ends up at the bottom of the pack - the cats sleep on her bed, and in her eyes, they run the house!
Autumn is a very independent, friendly dog. She thinks her mom is at her beck and call. When Autumn is upstairs, she wants to go downstairs. When she is downstairs, she wants to go upstairs. For a 12 year old dog, she still acts like a puppy in many ways. She is very spoiled, and she knows it! Our precious Autumn left for the Rainbow Bridge on March 29, 2007, at the age of 12, leaving behind three cats and a Mawmee and Daddy who will never forget her sweet disposition and loving devotion to our family. Autumn is Dogster's Dog of the Day on Saturday, April 7, 2007!

Today I celebrate my 14th birthday with the angels. This is my second birthday at the bridge, and sometimes it feels like I've been here for a long time. I have a lot of friends that are celebrating with me.
Of course, there is a reason that today is the day I celebrate my birthday. Mawmee and Daddy found me in October, when they were taking a long weekend and staying at some cabins in Indiana. The cabins were on a lake, and they had their dog Patoka with them.
I was living at the cabins at the time, and so was another dog who had just had puppies. That dog and her puppies were living in a box behind one of the cabins. The cabin cleaning lady was feeding us, but most of the food went to the Momma dog.
Of course, when I saw a nice couple with a dog, I started hanging around their cabin. I took them over to show them the Momma dog and the puppies. I was in really bad shape, very thin, hookworms that made my feet swell up, and I had no hair on my ears from malnutrition.
Mawmee cried the entire weekend. She bought food to leave in the cabin office for the Momma dog. After doing some begging, I was able to go with them when they left to go home. I was taken straight to the vet's office to get cleaned up, spayed, and given my shots.
She tried, but not very hard, to find a home for me, but Patoka and I quickly became best friends, so she knew she couldn't separate us!
The cabin trip was around October 15 and 16 - my Daddy's birthday is the 16th. They decided I was probably around 6 months old, so they did the math and came up with April 15 - tax day - as a good day to celebrate my birthday.
Thank you to those who have remembered me on my special day. . . . . .
Today is the second anniversary of my journey to the Rainbow Bridge.
Mawmee and Daddy went to the U of L game in Indianapolis today, and while they were in the car they talked about me. They said I was such a great dog and how much they missed me.
I've been busy the past two years helping over 300 angels get their wings - most of them have been cats, but occasionally a special doggie friend will be at the bridge, and I have wanted to get them just the right pair of wings for getting around at the bridge.
It is sad when I see a friend come to the bridge because I know how much sadness is left behind for their family. Mawmee still gets sad when she thinks about all the fur family members who have left her, but she knows that there is a place in her heart where each one of us will live forever.
Thanks to my friends who have sent me sweet messages and rosettes today. I appreciate each one of you - you made it easier for me to leave by helping Mawmee deal with the sadness.
Well, I've been keeping busy at the bridge making angel wings. Last night three more sweet angels received wings from me, and when I added them to my angel slide show, I realized that I have given wings to 302 angels.
Wowza, that makes me sad to see so many angels coming to the bridge. And some of them are so young. Helping a kitty or a doggie get their wings takes time. I have to go to the wing closet and pick out the right size. Then I have to round up that angel because they are usually out in the meadow playing with friends. Next comes the fittings - there are usually several until we pick the wing that fits their personality.
Then we try out all the different backdrops up here at the bridge. A lot of them like to be near the rainbow because it is so pretty. I love delivering their wings to them because they are so excited to finally be able to fly with the other angels.
And getting a sweet message like this makes it all worthwhile. This is the pmail I received from Taag this morning. It brought tears to my eyes, so I know it brought tears to Mawmee's eyes too.
There are not enough words to thank you enough!
My wings are so gorgeous and the beautiful blue sky, dove and sun background is so stunning, that it takes my lady's breath away.
You picked a great picture to work with. I always felt lucky to catch Taag at that moment looking so proudly regal.
Thank you for the comfort that you brought with this picture. This is how I will always see Taag now when thinking of her at the bridge.
Today it was a week marking her passing and it was a little bit of a rough day. The learning to live without her, only comes with time. Thank you for sending us this, at the perfect timing. It is a heartwarming close to a day that felt dreary.
All our love,
Taag{Guardian Angel} Nuk, Sweets and grateful humans
Thank you, Taag, for the comfort you brought me through this sweet message.
