Birthday: December 12th 1992 Likes: Her glow-ball, fetch the big ball, doggie kisses, dog biscuits after going outside Pet-Peeves: when she doesn't get a dog biscuit after barking at the biscuit box Favorite Toy: glow-ball, her basketball for a rousing game of "fetch the big ball," see the fun video! Favorite Food: carrots and t-bone steaks but really anything anyone else is eating Favorite Walk: anyplace she can go for a walk Best Tricks: She will obey commands if she feels like it. Then she looks at you like "see, I chose to obey you! aren't you happy now?" Arrival Story: Eugenie was a Valentine's Day Present! The best ever! Bio: Cockapoos don't shed. So Eugenie's hair gets longer and longer until she looks like a sheepdog. Then when she gets a haircut she's half the size she started at. Forums Motto: Where's my glowball? The Last Forum I Posted In: Friends at the Rainbow Bridge!! Funny and Unique Traits!: (1) The famous "hole in the food!" Eugenie eats dry dog food (Iams). She will frequently eat all the food in the middle of her food dish so that the remaining food is arranged around the outer part of the bowl with a hole in the middle in which you can see the bottom of the bowl, like a doughnut. Then, she will bark at her food dish until someone comes along and shakes it up so that the hole is gone! After that, she chows down again. Yep, we have been laughed at by visitors who see us go to Eugenie and say "Hole in the food, Euge?" and shake her food dish. It's also a running gag to arrange dinner on the plate with a hole in the middle.
(2) The sump pump! In the old house, back in the late 90's, there was a sump pump in the basement which would turn on every so often and run for a few seconds. Eugenie LOVED that sump pump. She would go down to the basement and lie in front of it, waiting, waiting for it to go off. Then, when it finally did, she would bark her head off at it. When it would shut off again, she'd lie down and wait, hoping it would go off again! On wet days, it would go off every few minutes, but on dry days, of course, it wouldn't, and we took to going down and pouring a bucket of water into it because Eugenie looked SO happy when she got to bark at it!
(3) Fetch the Big Ball! This speaks for itself because you can see two excellent videos of Eugenie playing this game on her video book right here! She wasn't taught to do it, she just did it. The first time, she let everyone know of her talent by running into the back yard and stealing a soccer ball from two kids who were playing back there!
(4) The Command That Must Be Obeyed! Eugenie will obey commands if she feels like it, and when she does, she never fails to give you a look and a happy howl that lets you know that she has decided to obey you because she wants to. EXCEPT... for the "Off" command! For some reason, Eugenie never ignores this one. Tell her "Off" and she does it, every time. It's kind of the all purpose command to get her to move. Nobody can figure out why this is the one and only command that's sure to be obeyed, but, as has been frequently observed, "Nobody can comprehend the mind of the Baby!"
I know, I know, it's been years since I've updated my diary. I'm having too much fun at the Rainbow Bridge with all my doggie pals. Well, actually, when I was with my humans, I always loved people but I would just ignore other dogs (except Elvis the Miniature Poodle, whom I played with all the time when he was around, but that's another story.)
Anyways, I am glad to see that my humans still remember me and miss me. Of course, I am watching over them all the time. I want them to come visit me at the Memory Park Pet Cemetery and drop some food in my honor!
Well, time goes by. Summer is over at the Memory Park Pet Cemetery, and soon it will be fall. I'm glad my humans still remember me and think about me, and even if they didn't get out to see me as often as I might like so far this year, I know it's because it's been raining all the time and when it's not raining, it's too darn hot! Of course, for me, hot is fine because I like warm weather. I remember lying out in the sun in the back yard for hours on end. Of course, rain, that's another story. If it was raining, I'd wait hours to go potty rather than have one drop of water fall on my fluffy body. But anyways, now that it's cooler, I know my humans will be out to see me and have a picnic. I like picnics, especially when someone drops the food!
Soon it will be spring and my humans can come to the Memory Park Pet Cemetery and have another picnic with me. Right now it's too cold and muddy to go, but I know they think about me and still remember me... so I am still around and I always will be.
