Likes: Romeo loves to hunt crickets, dig up gophers, cuddle with humans, play with his BABY, eat "Busy Bones," and take naps in his beloved crate.
Pet-Peeves: Romeo gets scared of big dogs that growl and show teeth or give him dirty looks. He is kinda nervous around people who wear white socks, but he's getting used to it day by day. The leash is really annoying, too, but he always has to wear it when he's out!
Favorite Toy: If a toy is soft and much too big for him to carry it, Romeo will LOVE it.
Favorite Food: Boiled chicken with rice. Yum! Basically, any human food that he can steal or beg from Grandpa (that guy never visits enough...).
Favorite Walk: Romeo loves to go to Grandma & Grandpa's house and walk with Grandpa to the llama farm. Those llamas are so funny! Now that he lives in Austin he really likes Town Lake. Lots of squirrels!
Best Tricks: Romeo likes to smile, to the delight of humans around him.
Arrival Story: Romeo was a sick little stray dog that was picked up by animal control in Rancho Santa Fe, California. He was cold, wet, emaciated, and had many bare hotspots where he nervously had chewed his hair off. He was almost a year old and unneutered and probably had never had a real home. His Mommy came into the shetler to look for a companion during her recovery from massive back surgery. She could see that the little red dog needed a good home and she immediately filed paperwork to adopt him. They have been together ever since!
Bio: Romeo's on MySpace, too! http://www.myspace.com/romeobonito

Well, folks, today was my fifth birthday. It began with breakfast sausage, followed by a long walk, where I encountered my human pal Lindy and her pup Rowan. They treated me to some scratches, a butt sniff, and A NEW TOY! I carried it in my mouth all the way home, setting it down only once when I had to do "my business."
I returned home to a nice nap while Mama went to job #1. When she got home I got a biscuit, a long massage, and a walk. My neighbor, a human named Kim, came over with ANOTHER present! It's a rope toy and I really like it. Mama went off to job #2 and I stayed home, playing with my new toys.
Mama then came home and cooked me a really yummy, stinky dinner. It included beef, sausage (no spices), tuna, and kibble. It was warm and delicious. Then I got a nice long walk and some really great play time.
I've already ripped out one eye from the zebra toy Rowan gave me. I'm working on destroying the basketball rope toy, too. Mama's human friend Anna also gave me a Petco gift card and Mama's students made banners and cards for me. A Padres bandana came in the mail from my human and feline friends in California, my Grandma sent me $5 (one for each year since my birth), and Auntie Brooke sent us a check to get our car fixed. All in all, this was a super birthday!
Today I am five
Or thereabouts
Glad for my life
Glad for this house
Whiskers turn grey
And bones get sore
But I'll love my Aimée
Forever more!!!
Sad news... My friend, Rowan (rowanthedog.blogspot.com) protected his human by catching a bat that had come in through their chimney. Well, it turns out that the bat was sick with RABIES. Now Rowan and his human can't come out and play.
vote for me if you think i'm cute (and i know you do!)
