Old Boy

In late September, Samson was diagnosed with cancer in his throat. The tumor is in an inoperable postion. Samson is now 10.5, so we will not be doing any heroic measures to extend his life, just making him as comfortable as possible until he crosses the Rainbow Bridge. It was hard for me to come and post this here on his dogster site, it makes it too real. It's too hard to admit that a loved one is nearing the end of his journey. I pray that God gives me one more summer with the best dog ever in the world.

Hurricane Katrina

Had to finish out the year with some attention focused on me. Not to be outdone by Ralphie the goofy puppy, I broke my toe (actually, the dew claw on my front right leg). It cost just about the same as Ralphie's emergency vet visit, but that is because I am a bigger dog requireing more care. My people tell me this was my early Christmas gift (broke it the week before), and sure enough there was nothing but a sticky bun for me for Christmas. Poor poor dog. Glad to report, the toe is healed now, the meds all gone (YUM cheese wrapped pills!), and life goes on as normal. Happy New Year!!!

Today was a fine day to be a dog. Nice, cool, and at last not raining. Helped Mom clear out the pepper patch by chewing the pulled pepper stalks to bits before they headed to the compost heap. Chased a mouse out of the wood pile. Getting along well with the little old dog the family is dog sitting. The highlight of the day.... saw 3 deer out in the feild eating apples (a mama, yearling and fawn). The mama deer had only 3 legs! Sure did not slow her down a wink. Had some Mac-N-Cheese in the kibble for dinner, life is good!
