Leave a bone for Toby *In Loving Memory*
Handsome Man, Tobias Gregory, Tobester, TobeMan, Sneaky T
February 21st 2000
Attention. All of it.
Ronco Rotisserie Oven and Darian playing the flute!
Anything his brother is playing with!
WALK? Did someone say WALK????? Anywhere and EVERYWHERE!
Looking innocent....even with a blue beard after eating a cotton candy yogurt!
I found Toby on the
Schnauzer Rescue Board in August 2001. He was rescued from a shelter
by an angel named Sara. She volunteers for an all breed rescue group in Maryland
and took him to her home rather than allow him to be dropped at the shelter. He
was going to stay with her; however, her 2 spaniels didn't really care for him
and since they were older in age, she decided to find the proper home for Toby.
The minute I read his story, I knew he was meant to be MY dog. I wrote Sara an
email from my heart and she called me and asked if I would be willing to come
see him. Mind you, she was in Maryland and I am in PA but that didn't stop me!
We were on the road within an hour! ! It was love at first site! :-) He didn't
even look like a schnauzer (see photo at left) at first. After spending 4 hours
with Sara and her family; Toby came home with us August 25, 2001 He has been
with us over 2 years and continues to thrive!
We don't know anything about Toby's past other than according to the person who dropped him off at the shelter in July 2001, he was 17 months old at the time. That put his birthday in February 2000 so we celebrate his birthday on our wedding anniversary, February 21st!

Toby went to the Rainbow Bridge on July 1st after being diagnosed with lung cancer on June 14th. He was my loyal and faithful companion for over 12 years.
A friend sent me this poem about the Rainbow Bridge tonight and I felt the need to share:
As I approach the Bridge
I see the light.
The rainbow is gleaming
soft and bright.
I have no fear
Of this beautiful place.
My tail starts to wag
As past pain is erased.
There’s new strength in my legs
My eyes see things clear.
Sweet music is playing
How well I can hear.
All of the dogs and cats
Come over my way.
They line up and greet me
And are ready to play.
No fences, no boundaries,
No trips to the vet.
Everything is just great.
Am I happy? You bet!
Only one thing is missing
As I scan over this place.
I don’t see my master,
Who showed me such grace.
But a day will be coming;
I believe it is true.
When the ones that I loved
Will come into my view.
When that day arrives
And my joy is complete,
I’ll curl up in their lap
Or just sit at their feet.
We never will part
Now tied in eternity
By the strings of our hearts.

Don't forget to bark them a pmail that they have been tagged and to read your Diary, or, send them a fund Rosette announcing they've been Tagged!
Here are 7 fun facts about Toby:
