Well fellow Pooches...Mom didn't kill us!!! (for digging up her rose bushes. Although, it was touch and go there for a little while.

Summer has been absolutely wonderful! We're getting so much bigger and we've had one adventure after another and we've learned an awful lot.....the biggest lesson we've learned is that raspberry truffle and gold...don't mix.

Mom and Dad decided that this year the outside color of the decks around the house needed to be changed from forest green...to raspberry truffle. So, Maggie and I got our first real lesson in home renovations.

Turns out that stuff in those big cans they used to change the colour...doesn't smell all that bad, as a matter of fact, it smells pretty darn good. ..and these cans all have handles. As soon as Maggie saw them she remembered how much help she had been to Mom when she used to carry the feed buckets back from the barn to the house for her, when Tbone an Porterhouse were living in the barn. Maggie was very excited and thought that this home renovation thing might be something she could be really good at. So, she just walked right over and picked up the can by it's handle and took it to the back door when she used to bring the other buckets for Mom. Mom saw her and screamed "Maggie NOOOOO!"....Maggie, being the wonderful Golden that she is ..stopped and turned to look at Mom with her adoring eyes and her wildly wagging tail...then Mom grabbed her by the colour and made a big mistake. Mom tried to grab the handle of the can out of Maggie's mouth!!..and Maggie pulled back.....and the next thing you know Mom was on the ground with red stuff all over her..and Maggie was running across the yard, still holding her handle, with red stuff splashing out of it. I realized how much fun I was missing out on....and I had to chase after Maggie...when I caught up to her ..she stood up on her back legs and lunged towards me, hitting me with her chest and then she dropped the handle. All that red stuff started splahishing all over the place and there was a big puddle of it on the ground...but Maggie came at me again and we started wrestling , and I got Maggie into a headlock and we fell over onto the ground. .....right into all that red stuff.

YUP, you got it.....we got ourselves in BIG trouble with Mom...again.
She grabbed the two of us, put us both back on our leashes and hosed us down...she was saying alot of words that we didn't know..and they really didn't sound very nice.

It's not so bad though. It's three weeks later and all the red stuff is almost completely gone from our fur now. Maggie had to go to the groomer to get the paint matts taken out her fur and me? I have two lovely red toenails!!! So the biggest thing we learned this summer is that raspberry truffle and Golden's don't go.
