Arrival Story:
Sergei was shipped up to the NW from So. California as unadoptable due to his nervous temperament. He had problems with anyone touching him, petting him or making eye contact. Poor guy - I just melted looking into his spaniel eyes. I brought him to his fur-ever home on 8/5/05. He has calmed down sooo much now! It took 2 weeks for his tail to come up, and now he even wags it! His manners have improved, and he's walking well on a lead. Sleeps with Mom and his brother Pomeroy, and plays nicely with his older brother. He came to me as a Pug/Pom mix....but that just doesn't fit. He's a mystery mix - but a real sweet one!

And it's not gaseous food byproducts! Mom has been cleaning, getting the trash out, obsessing over pee marks and scolding Dani and me about them. She keeps muttering - What would Lisa think? Is that like WWJD stuff? Hmmm....

On another note, my buddy Anikin is moving down south to Creswell soon. He and his Mom Martha came over for food and movies and we all had a fine time! Dani and I even let Anikin chew on our cow poke. No fussing at all! I sure will miss Anikin and Martha - she taught me how to sing at the Dog Park. I know my Mom's going to miss them too - awwwoooo.

I will have to keep the diary updated with news...I know there's something going on - Mom isn't even 'working' today. And it's Thursday -- very suspicious. I hope it doesn't include washing me. Humph.... BOL - Sergei

When I’m Howling You—o—o-oooo

Mom looks at me with an astonished look on her face. ‘What in the world is wrong Sergei?’ ‘Yiop-ip-nooothing Mom!’ I reply perkily. It seems that since I have found my voice (Thanks Potso Pal Martha and Anakin!) I enjoy performing along with the sirens that pass by on a nearby major road. We’re talking about 5-8 times a day here. We’re close by several elder care communities (There are even ambulances lurking in the grocery store lots, just waiting for the next call to come in. Kind of ghoulish, I think!) It’s also a very busy road with speeders. Wooo-oooooyip!

Mom has told people when I sing, I sound as if I’m being eviscerated, and that I am in excruciating pain, but I’m not! I just make my special noise – it is QUITE distinctive, if I do say so! My face apparently also communicates what mom calls ‘Fear and Loathing’. While I am howling I throw my head back a little bit and rooooolll my eyes side to side to be sure I am communicating with anyone who is hard of hearing. I have to be sure my song I heard after all!

Mom doesn’t mind me howling, as long as she has a mute button on her phone, but she does discourage Senseless Barking events. I don’t know why that is – many times one can lead to the other!

Wait --- I hear something!! OOoowhaoooooiiipe!!!

Baby, it's COLD outside!

Wow! My (figurative) hat is off to my fellow Dogsterians who live in colder climates. I just about froze my fuzzy rear end off this morning on the walk. I heard mom mumble from the inside of her heavy double coat:
"Jeebers - it's like 20 out here! Hurry up pups!!"
And there are dogs all around who do this in the cold all day, every day!!
I'm just a little wussie, I guess.
Sorry for such little input lately - Mom's not letting me on the computer much. It's a New Year though, and she's got a laptop with a wireless connection, so I hope she'll let me shout out more often. - xoxox Sergei
