Closer to justice?

It was over 2 years ago now that Edgar was stolen from me and missing from my life for 3 months. When I got him back, there was a very strong suspect in the case that proved even stronger in the upcoming months when DNA test results on a cigarette butt left in my home at the time of the incident came up as a match. But justice works slowly. There have been at least 5 or 6 court dates set and for one reason or another, they got pushed out. The last date we had, around Valentine's day, was pushed out because the suspect didn't show.. why, you ask? Because he had a warrant out for his arrest for other, unrelated charges. Thankfully, he was caught within a day or two and has been in custody ever since.

Now the new court date looms ahead for next week. It's looking like a go this time. He's not willing to plea out, so it will go to a jury trial - which means I will have to take the stand.

I met with the attorney yesterday to get her up to speed on the events as they happened from my viewpoint and it was far more emotional than I had expected. Just walking through the details started stirring up all of the emotions that I went through that night back in October of 2008. I didn't really start crying like a baby until I recounted when I got him back (which is making me tear up thinking about it now.) I worry about being an emotional wreck on the stand.. but maybe it will show that man just how much he took from me.

I'm hopeful that he will be found guilty and mostly I'm hopeful that I'll get some closure on this.. I've already won by getting my baby boy back, but it would be nice to see justice served.
