... and the first question that I get whenever I tell someone that he was stolen or when handing them the flyer to display is: "Are you sure he's stolen?" The answer is an unequivocal - YES.
Eggie stays in a kennel during the day, because he can be a bit naughty when I'm not around (heck, he can be naughty when I am around) So he couldn't have just "gotten out" when the theives broke in. Not only that, but the entire kennel was taken, along with a container of food and his food dish. So there is no question in my mind that Edgar was quite intentionally stolen.
So far, I have only gotten 1 call about a possible lead: a long-haired dachshund at an animal shelter in St. Cloud. I jumped on the website, my heart was pounding in anticipation, but when I scrolled down and saw that the dog in question wasn't my Edgar, my heart sank again. It did give me some comfort, though, that people were watching out for him...
That same day, several relative strangers decided on their own to post messages on www.craigslist.com asking anyone who read the posting to help spread Edgar's story by writing to the local news stations.(wcconewstips@wcco.com) My heart was truely touched by this gesture and by the gesture of a pledge to Eggie's reward fund by a couple in Illinois. It helped me see that there is still goodness in people and that not everyone out there is like the people that took my baby boy from me.
I need that hope, because apparently there have been no updates made to my case file at the Brooklyn Center PD. I'm not expecting to get much out of the police...
