Hey my beautiful girl. Mommy has not been as religious about writing you a hello every month like I was. But that does not mean I am not thinking of you. I wake up every morning with you by my bedside. Can't help but see your gorgeous face in the picture I have next to "you". Mommy just wanted to say I love you and think of you often. Hope you are keeping a close eye on your sister! I am sure you are as you were protective of everyone in your pack. You were a very good girl.
Love you lots Chy-Chy!

Hi my Chy girl. I missed your anniversary due to the phone being screwed up. I cannot believe that on December 17th it has been a year that you left us. I hope your stay at the bridge thus far has not been a lonely one as there have been friends from dogster that have passed onto the bridge that I hope you have played with. Your sister also I hope has found you or vise versa. She left us before Thanksgiving. I cannot wait till the day we are all united. All my babies!
I love you very much, Chy Chy! Miss you even more!
Love,
Momma

Hi ya Sweetie,
I hope that you have located your little sister, Reba, as she joined you at the bridge a couple weeks ago. Please look after her and love her in my place until I join you both. Make sure you tell her that mommy misses her. I miss you very much too. Even still. It will be a year in three weeks that you left me so quickly. I know you visit me via your sister, Skylar, though. She has alot of the same attributes you had. I even sometimes mistakenly call her Chyanne if I have been talking about you (and I still do!)! But we both know that there will never be another you. You were one of a kind, just like she is. I had to write you a message like I always do each month. I will need to start to do so for your little sister too. Just notes of love to let you both know that you are still near and dear to me.
Love and Kisses,
Mommy
PS
I have a new update about your pal, Mercy, featured on your website. For those people who read this, please be aware it may be painful to read but gives a full understanding of why www.pet-abuse.com (where the update was found) is an important piece of internet that gives us people power to help the pets that need help in their fight against those horrible people who abuse them. As sad as it is, we need your help in battling these people. So please visit www.pet-abuse.com to assist pets/animals like Mercy in making this world safer for them to live in too.
The Story of Mercy
A young pit bull is recovering from animal abuse, which included being dragged, stabbed and doused with chemicals.
The dog was found bleeding and terrified near an apartment complex at Preston Road and Belt Line Road by two young men. The pair dropped off the shaking and terrified dog at the Operation Kindess shelter.
Authorities did not reveal the name of the apartment complex for fear of compromising their case.
Officials at the shelter named the dog Mercy and are crediting the two young men with saving the dog's life.
"It was horrifying," said Jonnie England with Operation Kindness. "One side looks like she'd been drug behind a car. The other side looks like multiple stab wounds."
Investigators are just beginning to look into the abuse but are hoping a person who they know witnessed the abuse will help them out.
This is "one of the worst cases of apparent abuse that we have seen," said England. "The vet thought that she had suffered chemical burns on her body and inside her ears," said England.
Mercy is now in stable condition, but not in the clear.
"The entire top layer of skin is just gone in so many places that the concern is infection setting into those wounds," England said.
The Dallas Police Deparment may soon become involved in investigating the case, which could take several weeks.
Update 1:
Mercy, the name given the dog by Operation Kindness volunteers, was discovered by a Dallas man as she was huddled in a wooded area behind an apartment complex near Belt Line and Preston in North Dallas. The dog had been badly injured and was bleeding.
Veterinarians determined Mercy had been doused with gasoline and then lit on fire.
After receiving tips from residents in the area where Mercy was found the case was turned over to Dallas Animal Services? cruelty investigators. Now the cruelty investigators will begin talking with the residents to determine what happened to the dog. ?When we interview we will find out whether torture was involved or not,? said Dallas Animal Services Manager Kent Robertson. ?Once we gather the facts and determine the credibilty we can possible turn it over to a district attorney.? If it is determined that torture was involved the person or persons responsible can face state jail time for a length determined by a state judge, Robertson said. If torture was not involved the crime would be a misdeameanor with up to a year of jail time and a fine up to $1,000, he said.
?We hope that anyone with information that might be pertinent will come forward and help us find some justice for Mercy,? England said. To get Mercy through the holiday weekend she was taken to a nearby veterinarian who treated her multiple wounds, kept her on pain medication, IV fluids and antibiotics. For more intensive treatment Mercy was taken to a surgical specialist on April 17, 2006.
When volunteers and the veterinarian first saw Mercy they thought she had chemical burns and had been stabbed. ?We?re committed to finding the person who tortured and tried to kill this gentle and sweet-natured young dog,? England said. On April 18, 2006, Mercy had to undergo surgery to remove the ends of her ears, which had some of the worst damage. Although Mercy has already been through a lot she still has to go through a long, painful debridement process, England said. During this time veterinarians will scrape away dead skin in order for new skin underneath to grow. This time is important for the dog as the risk of infection is great, England said. The recovery period should be about two or three months as long as there are no complications.
Anyone with information regarding Mercy?s case should call 311 in Dallas or Operation Kindness at 972-418-PAWS. A fund has been established to help pa for Mercy?s treatment and long-term care. Donations can be sent to Operation Kindness, Attn: For Mercy?s Sake, 3201 Earhart Drive, Carrollton, TX 75006. Secure online donations can be made at www.operationkindness.org.

Update 2:
Mercy died Sunday evening about 9:30 p.m. at the veterinary clinic where she was being treated. Doctors said Mercy showed some improvement Saturday, but her condition started to deteriorate Sunday afternoon. She was given a plasma transfusion, but shortly afterward her heart--weakened by burns over 60% over her body--stopped beating. The young pit-bull mix was rescued Friday, April 14, by a Dallas man who saw her in the wooded area behind apartments in Far North Dallas.
The case is being investigated by Dallas Animal Services' Cruelty Division and the Dallas Police Department.
Anyone with information should call 3-1-1 or Dallas Animal Services at 214-671-0246.

Update 3:
A man police believe is responsible for dousing a 10-month-old pit bull named Mercy with gasoline then setting it on fire was arrested early Thursday morning.
According to police, Deshawn Brown, 21, was visiting a relative in Corinth Wednesday night when police received a tip about his whereabouts.
Brown was arrested after a traffic stop when he left the house, officials said.
He will be charged with cruelty to an animal, which includes cutting, stabbing and burning the dog on April 13.
A memorial is planned for the tortured pup at 10 a.m. Saturday at Operation Kindness, the Carrollton animal shelter that took in the puppy after she was rescued.
The dog died Sunday at a veterinary clinic where she received treatment for the stab wounds and burns that covered 60 percent of her body.

Update 4:
A Denton County man has given police two different versions of how a 10-month-old puppy was burned over 60 percent of her body:
She bumped against a barbecue grill, he told police. Later, he said two men burned her because he owed them money.
Deshann Brown, 21, was arrested shortly after midnight in Corinth, a community in Denton County, and charged with animal cruelty, said Senior Cpl. Jamie Kimbrough, Dallas police spokeswoman.
The 10-month-old puppy, named Mercy, died Sunday despite efforts to save her from extensive injuries. She had been cut, stabbed, doused with gasoline and set afire, police said.
On April 13, witnesses saw Mercy, ablaze, running through the parking lot of a north Dallas apartment complex. The witnesses extinguished the flames by dousing her with beer, police reports said.
The witnesses told police that the dog belonged to Brown, who was questioned a short time later.
He told police "he was attempting to grill on his patio when his dog, 'Brandy' - a pit bull mix - accidentally bumped (the) grill and ignited herself," the reports stated.
In succeeding days, however, witnesses told a much different story to police and animal control officers.
A woman said Brown wanted his dog to mate with hers, but that his dog "would not cooperate." She told Brown to remove his dog and he became angry and repeatedly kicked his dog as they were leaving, the reports said.
The woman followed Brown "at a distance and next observed his dog to have cuts (and) stab wounds."
Another man said saw Brown's dog on fire and running through the parking lot; he later saw Brown carrying a gas can, the reports said.
The dog had burns over 60 percent of her body, and she was turned over to Operation Kindness, a non-profit shelter in Carrollton that tries to find homes for abandoned or abused animals.
Officials interviewed Brown again April 17, and he told them that he lied to them about the grilling incident four days earlier.
Brown then told them that "he owed money to two guys for an Xbox and they had retaliated by burning his dog," the reports said.
Witnesses called the media, accusing Brown of being a torturous thug and complaining that he wasn't swiftly arrested.
Kimbrough said police were working with animal control officers to develop the case against Brown.
She said undercover officers from the North Central Deployment Division obtained a warrant for Brown's arrest and set up surveillance on several North Texas locations he was known to visit.
Included was his mother's home in Corinth. The officers saw him driving from there shortly after midnight Thursday, and they followed him, Kimbrough said.
Patrol officers from the Corinth Police Department stopped Brown for a traffic violation and turned him over to the undercover officers, Kimbrough said.
He was subsequently placed in the Lew Sterrett Justice Center and charged with animal cruelty, a state jail felony punishable by 180 days to two years in jail, plus possible fines up to $10,000. Bail is $50,000, Kimbrough said.

Update 5:
Operation Kindness volunteers, staff and community members have some closure in the death of Mercy, a 10-month-old puppy, after a memorial service and an arrest in the case.
The no-kill shelter held a memorial service for Mercy after receiving a large amount of response about her case. Hundreds of people gathered at Operation Kindness to honor the life of Mercy. A memorial service was held and afterward people passed by her spot placing candles and trinkets. ?One of our staff members wrote a poem from Mercy to everyone who supported her,? said Jonnie England, Operation Kindness executive director.

Gosh Chy girl, it is coming up on one year you have crossed over to the bridge. I cannot believe it. I miss you every day (your memory sits next to me on my side of the bed. Your spirit crossed the bridge but your body remains with your mommy until she passes away too. ). I think sometimes you come to visit via Skylar. She talks just like you did and she has the stubborn, strong spirit you had. So I enjoy her alot because she reminds me of you. Of course she has her own personality but I do enjoy watching you show up in her. You were a special girl, Chy Chy. I just hope that you know how much mommy loved you. She is glad that you came into her life. It hurt her for you to leave so early but she is glad that you were here. I know that your former life was a tough one but I am glad that it lead you to me. I think we both learned something from one another. You are my one and only Girlie Girl! Mom has slipped that out a couple times in reference to Sadie but it doesn't seem right cause you were the girlie girl. So I have retired that nickname in reference to you only. My ultimate Girlie Girl. Everyone says that black is a hard color to find a home for (lots of black doggies in the pound) cause it is sooo dull. Not flashy. But you were simply BEAUTIFUL inside and out to your momma! She grew to appreciate that color because of you. You packed beauty, intelligence and personality plus in that body of yours. Momma misses you still. You will always be remembered, my beautiful Chy Chy.

Hey my Chy girl! Sugar posted this in a forum and I thought it was so nice, I had to post it and let you know this is how mommy feels about you. She loves you so much and misses you daily. She has to laugh though sometimes cause your sister, Skylar, whom you have not met yet, does things just like you did and it makes me think of you and laugh. She loves to "talk" just like you which is the biggest thing. She pushes other doggies with her nose like you sometimes did. But mommy knows there will NEVER be another doggie like you. You are special in mommy's heart!
For those who have lost a pet...
I stood by your bed last night...
I came to have a peep.
I could see that you'd been crying,
And you found it hard to sleep
I whined to you softly
as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me. I haven't left you.
I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."
I was close to you at breakfast...
I watched you pour your tea.
You were thinking of the many times
Your hands reached down to me.
I was with you at my grave today...
You tend to it with such care.
I want to reassure you
That I'm not lying there.
I walked you towards the house
As you fumbled for the key.
I gently put my paw on you...
I smiled and said, "its me."
You looked so very tired
As you sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know
That I was sitting there.
It's wonderful for me to be
So near you everyday,
To say to you with certainty,
"I never went away."
You sat there very quietly,
Then smiled... I think you knew
That in the stillness of the evening
I was very close to you.
And when the time is right for you
To cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to meet you
And we'll stand there side by side.
I have so many things to show you!
There's so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out,
Then come home to be with me.

Hey my beautiful girl!
Mom misses you as usual. She has been busy with work and the house full of your sisters and brothers. As you have probably already noticed, we have added a new sister for you! And even though dad disagrees with me, I think she has alot of your characteristics. She does alot of little things that reminds me of you when you first came to our house. So needless to say, I think of you almost daily. Especially lately at work as there have been alot of Chyannes (although spelled differently!!) come through her vet office that she works at (and wishes she had worked at when you came down sick ... you may have been here still then! I know, I am again being selfish! You are at the bridge making new doggie friends and taking care of them until everyone can meet their mommies and daddies again!) so she frequently hears your name lately. Must be fate at work! I had to write you a diary to tell you that I miss your beautiful black face with those graceful white whiskers ... and our morning snuggles. I love you very much and cannot wait to finally see you in person although I know you come to watch over me at night and probably lick my face in a gentle breeze on a beautiful day. You were a mommy's girl and my beautiful angel, you will always be my girlie girl.
Love and kisses my Bridge angel,
Momma

I have posted in on your web page so everyone can see it and see what a wonderful job he did on you! We were so blessed to find that website and that he did your picture! Thank you again Larry for your wonderful job!! Oh to have even a thin slice of your talent and the thoughfulness to share it with everyone else!! Thank you Thank you Thank you!

Hey Chy girl! Momma found some more pictures of you. I just had to post them. I am afraid that I am running out of pictures I have taken of you though. I wish I would have taken more pictures of you. Looking at some of those pictures I took of you ... you were a beautiful girl! I remember the poor pup we picked up from the Elizabeth City Pound --- death row member that you were. They were so glad to see someone taking you away. They hated to see you put to sleep cause you obviously had had a rough life thus far. You fur was so dull and brittle. It was obvious that your diet had been lacking. And your tail .... **tsk tsk tsk** ... broken a few times, seeping blood and pus from the last break. It was having a hard time of it recovering. And the calluses that you had ... every elbow, the end of your tail, and worse yet, on the rear of your bum!! You had not known a soft surface for years. But looking at those last pictures of yours ... your outside had finally caught up to the inside ... beautiful all around!!! I think we could have kept your original name of Beauty by that time! Your coat was so glossy and not dry and brittle ... all those calluses had almost disappeared cause hair finally grew where it needed to. Even the area rescue director did not recognize you from the last time she had seen you! You had put on good healthy weight and a beautiful coat. You were an absolute beauty, my love!! But mommy had seen that beauty from the beginning!
I love and miss you my Chy girl!

Hello Chy girl! Momma just wanted to drop a diary entry to say she misses and loves you. Not a day that goes by that I don't think of you. Your passing has assisted momma in a good way though. With her job, she can truly empathize with clients that must send their beloved pets to the bridge (and I am sure you are there to greet them all!!) due to sickness or not having the ability to do everyday activities due to age. So even though she would rather have you here with her (and she knows she is being selfish about this but she can't help it!!), she can use her sadness in a constructive way. Sometimes when it must happen at work, it really gets her to thinking about you and makes her want to cry. But thinking about you running in the backyard and playing in the water makes her happy. I love you very much and still miss you till myheart hurts. But she is glad you are waiting for me in a safe place where I am sure you are surrounded by lots of friends like Buddie D Smith, Pumpkin and others who have crossed to the bridge.
Love you lots!

Chyanne Hope,
Gosh, I don't know what else I can say about you that I haven't already posted on your website or in your monthly diary. You came in our life unexpectantly. And although supposedly we saved your life, you brought so much life into mine. You came to us with so many physical and emotional injuries but you overcame them with the fiery spirit that was obvious from the first few weeks after you came home. You had such large eyes that showed that wild side that intimidated most people but your momma. Your 'talking' was a welcome thing cause it let us know how you stood with things in life. You were a special dog in momma's life and she misses her morning with you. I wish so badly that I could have done more for you in your final days. I wish so badly that you were still here with us but I know God needed you badly for some reason. So momma looks forward to the day that we can snuggle together again. I miss my Chy girl and everything about you! I don't think the part of my heart that belonged to you will ever be healed or the same. You were my special girl.
