Baby it's cold outside...But I love it!

Why wouldn't I love it. I am an American Eskimo Dog!!!! Bring on the chill, bring on the sleet and snow and blinding blizzard conditions!!! Oh yeah...I live in Austin, Texas. Well then bring on the light frost and temperatures that hover above 5o degrees in the daytime. It did get to the teens the other night and Max, Poppy and I chased each other in and out the doggy door. The cold gets us FRISKY! Then we wrap in next to mommy in her bed and sleep in down filled comfort all night.

Today it rained all day and although we love the cold and we don't mind the rain our mommy hates it when we get wet and jump all over the furniture.

Oh big news. We had a breakout last week. Someone came in the backyard and left the gate open and well of course we had to run out and see what is out there beyond the fence. Wr had never been in the front of the house before except to get in the car on a leash to go somewhere. So when we left by ourselves without tellig our mommy she pretty much lost her mind. Our mommy was really upset and drove all over the neighborhood looking for us. When we saw her we jumped in the car and she took us back home immediately. Wow what a day that was! She just kept hugging us and kissing us and telling us how much she loves us and that running around was dangerous and we could have been hurt or killed. Oops. We are glad to be home.

Vote for Max!

My handsome son is entered in the 3rd annual world's coolest dog and cat show contest. Vote for my son. He is quite an attractive catch and quite the little honey. Sometimes I have to remind him who is the boss in the family and scold him but really he's such a dear. You really should vote for Max...my son you know.

A very proud mother

There are enemies among us

There is an enemy next door. A stranger with diabolical intentions. We must remain ever vigilant and on guard. ..Mom says to stop barking at the neighbors new dog!

Can you believe the audacity of those people.? We had a safe, quiet and respectable neighborhood until they brought that heathen into the mix. Okay, truth be told, we haven't actually seen much of the interloper. Only what we can discern through the fence and he/she doesn't actually make a lot of noise ( that would be us according to Mom) nor does he seem very interested in us. We have sniffed through the fence with an intensity that mom said would make the wet/dry vacuum blush. This is a cause that we have thrown every available resource behind and we three feel that this false sense of security our mom has is all the more reason why we must ferociously attack the fence and bark until we reach a fevered cacophonous crescendo of sound. I am proud to say we got the dog in the yard behind us to howl today! :-) HE understands the nature of this new beast as well as I do. Unfortunately Mom closed the dog door so our patrols were preempted for the afternoon. She simply DOES NOT understand the dire situation.

Never fear! We will never tire of our cause.

Heroically Yours,
Chloe

Rain, rain go away come again another day!

It has rained everyday for the past two weeks. The rivers and lakes are flooding and there isn't any boating allowed on the lakes this 4th of July. Even the small neighborhood lake...really more of a large pond...has overflowed its banks. Mom has to keep us indoors most of the time so you can imagine how excited we were to get to go out yesterday and today. Dad mowed the yard and the sun is finally shining!

We saw our area on the national news the other day because of flooding. We're not water dogs so we really appreciate the sunshine.

Stay cool!!!!

It's a furry, furry world

Mom is on a rampage. There is a new baby in the house and almost every surface has dog hair on it. She is dusting and vacumming and brushing us like crazy. Our fur starts to mat and fall out in clumps in the summer so I can understand her frustration, but my goodness there is a lot of brushing going on. It pulls our hair and sometimes we have to run and hide from her. She is going to send us to the beauty parlor ( as she calls it) so we can get a proper grooming. Then she muttered something about laminating us and all of the furniture. I think she was kidding.

Well there are toys to play with, birds to chase out of the backyard, treats to eat and people to lick!

Have a grrr-rific day!

So many things to talk about!

We moved into our new house last September and we love our new backyard and neighbor dogs. Our new human step-brother is a lot of fun and gives us a lot of attention when he stays with us.

Mom developed complications with her pregnancy and our new human sister was delivered 2 months early and spent about 6 weeks in the NICU. She is home now and smells really good. We really, really, really want to lick her but mom won't let us so we have to give mom extra licks when she isn't holding the baby. Sometimes dad forgets to put the dirty diapers in the Diaper Genie in the middle of the night and that's a real treat. We like to take them in the backyard and really rip them to shreds. Every once in a while we get a burp cloth or a cute tiny hat or sock to tear up in the backyard. Mom isn't too happy about that but she seems to blame herself for leaving it where we could get it. The smells that come from the baby are extraordinary! We are really curious about everything that comes out of the baby. We like to curl up next to mom and the baby on the sofa or lay on the floor of the nursery when they are in there together.

We sometimes think that the baby talk is for us because we have always been mommy's babies. Overall mom is doing a pretty good job of distributing the love between all of us. We don't get to cuddle in bed with her as long as we used to anymore but we do have her home all day now. It's a good trade.

You all take care and we will chat soon!

Mom and Dad are married and have a new house

Mom and Dad got married on Saturday and now we have a big family! We have a human step-brother, a cat sister and a turtle something-or-another. It may be a girl but no one really has any idea what sex it is.

On Monday our mom left for Austin to look for a house and our grandparents took care of us. Mom called them on Friday and said they had found a house and we will be moving in September!!!! Unfortunately we can't move to Austin right now because our dad lives in an apartment and they won't accept all of us so mom is staying here until the house is ready to move into.

Other than that wonderful news it has been pretty normal around here. Very hot! We stay inside in the air conditioning unless there is something to chase in the backyard like a squirrel or a car goes down the alley.

Stay Cool!

Our human mom is getting married this Saturday and we are on our way to the groomer to get beautiful because we are going to be in the ceremony!!!!!

Her fiance' is so wonderful! We get so excited when he comes over to visit and play with us. He doesn't mind dog hair and he said he would keep us safe if anything ever happened to our mom.

Woo Hoo!!! This means we are moving back to our hometown of Austin!!! We can't wait to go kayaking on Town Lake and spend the afternoon at doggy day care!!!!

Mom got a beautiful dress and matching bows for us. We are very excited!

The last time I wrote I had dew claw surgery and I am happy to report that everything is wonderful! Poppy and Max Henry are next. I told them it isn't so bad, but it sure is nice to have those hot peppermint striped bandages off and chill in the pool.

I have to go get beautiful!

xoxo,
Chloe

Socks off today!!!!!

The vet wrapped my two front legs in red and white bandages following my dew claw operation. Mom has to leave them on until tomorrow. I get my stitches out on Saturday!!! HooRay!!! I've been walking around with peppermint legs for almost a week. I've learned that I can run, dig and play pretty well in them. Well maybe not so well at the digging because Mom stops me every time I try. She stops me every time I try to chew the bandages off too. It's getting annoying to be told "No" so many times, but I try to be very good and she hugs me and tells me I'm a good girl, even after stopping me from chewing on them.

So I'll let everyone know about the bandages and the removal of my stitiches. I can't wait because I really miss the pool. I can't get in it with my bandages and it has been in the 100's this week. Boy How-dee it's hot in West Texas. Not much different from Austin, just not as much rain and I miss Lake Travis. Good thing we have the pool! Of course I can't get in it with the bandages on. The weather forecast is 101, 101, 101, 99, 99 (Nice coldfront) and 101 for the next week. Sure will be nice to get back in the pool because I am one hot dog. Ha Ha Ha!!!

Hope there aren't a lot of other "hotdogs "out there. Stay cool!!!
Affectionately,
Chloe
