Woof to everyone,
Mom and I haven't been here since last September to post an entry!
Lots has happened....both good and bad.
On November 10 we lost Angus, our 13 1/2 year old Scottish Fold cat. I loved Angus and I could see he was very sick at the end. But it didn't make it any easier. The nice thing is, he's buried in our yard and even has a nice marble stone with his name and date of birth and death. But all of us missed him an awful lot.
Our vet told us about a nice lady that had kittens that needed a home. We were only going to take one....but they were twin brothers and mom couldn't separate them. So we took Ralph and Foster home.....they were almost 3 months then and now they're almost 9 months. Pure black and they're SO sweet. They thought "I" was their mom....and even now, they curl up next to me and purr.
And THEN.....guess what dad got mom for her birthday in March? A Scottish Terrier puppy. Duncan came to live with us on March 19 at 6 weeks old. He's a handful, but I sure do enjoy him. And the breeder was right....Scotties aren't pansy dogs! They're a LOT of dog in a small package. We love to romp and play in the yard together. I adore the cats, but it's a lotta fun having another canine to play with. And now Duncan will enjoy this island life as much as I do. He loves riding around in the golf cart, going to the beach and everyone downtown oooohing and aaaaahing over him. But I don't feel left out at all......I'm not the jealous type. Besides mom always whispers to me, "I love you best."
I hope all of you have been good. I'll try to get back here sooner. Duncan now has his page, so I imagine he'll have something to say soon.
Doggie hugs and kisses to everyone.

Both Mom and I are so sad to watch the news about all the displaced dogs from Katrina. It breaks our hearts. Mom did donate last week to the New Orleans SPCA, but she wishes she could do more.
Does anyone know what the site or link might be for adopting dogs who no longer have their owners? I've been wanting a new brother or sister for awhile and Mom said maybe now is the time to do it....by giving a sweet dog a great home. She just can't seem to find out how to go about doing this. Thanks for any help.
It's a very sad time right now and I'm very grateful to be safe and with my family.
Doggies kisses and hugs to all my pals.

Hi to all my doggy pals,
Mom's been busy and hasn't let me get on here all day.
I just wanted to say hello and make sure everyone was doing good.
It's just been so darn hot here! Makes a doggy wish she were living in Alaska right about now.
But winter will arrive.....and in Florida, that's the best time of the year for us doggies.
So everyone stay cool and I'll see you soon.

First of all, I'm so excited with my new doggy pals! I'm having so much fun here.
Our nice, quiet house has gotten very noisy the past 8 weeks. Seems they're doing some construction in our back yard....keep hearing mom and dad saying things like, "writers studio" "screened lanai" "will be nice when the cats can go out there and this is finished."
All I know is.......from morning till night we have strange guys in our back yard, I do NOT have the run of the yard from sunup till sundown anymore, mom takes me out front on my leash (of all things) to pee during the day and there's a heck of a lot of noise going on. Strange sounds that make me bark, like footsteps on the ROOF, buzzing sounds, banging sounds......it's all very disturbing.
But I did hear mom say this morning, "this should all be finished in about a week." I sure hope so........not sure my doggy nerves can take much more of this. Protecting a home with all this extra activity is NOT an easy job for one pooch.
Have a good day and see you soon.

Gosh, when Mom told me that "I" would finally get to have some input on this machine that sits in her office, I was so excited! I get to hear what other doggies have to say and I actually get to have my own woofs out there in cyber space.
For my first entry....a little intro on me. I was born in Florida, in the Tampa Bay area. But from the time I was 8 months old, Mom and Dad have taken me a few times a year to visit this island, 2 hours north. 24 miles from the mainland, it's a doggie-friendly place.......we even used to stay at the Faraway Inn, here on the isalnd, where doggies are not only welcome, but actually fawned over and all the doggies get to socialize and have fun.
Well, you can only imagine how excited I was last Nov. when I found out Dad was retiring and we were MOVING to this island......permanently! Yup! They found a lovely home here and we moved in February.
My life has done a total 180 since moving here and the good life I had before has only gotten better. I go for walks every day with Mom.....either to the cemetery, which is more like a park, or downtown. And when we go downtown, Mom lets me off my leash and I get to romp and gallup and act like a total fool in the warm and beautiful beach of the Gulf of Mexico. Then they bought a golf cart....at first I wasn't sure about that thing, but lemme tell ya, it's SO much fun! They thought I was going to sit on the back seat but I quickly made them realize I'd be so much better behaved, if I could sit right up front between them. I love going in the golf cart and you know what? They even had a local artist paint my name and dog paws across the front of it....yup, they named it the "Hollymobile." I love cruising around the island in that.....I also always see other island doggies riding around in their golf carts and we woof at each other in greeting.
Well, if that wasn't enough fun.....next thing I knew, they bought a pontoon boat and yup.....they let me go out on that with them too. Since my Dad is a Lab, I adore water (so I'm really in my element living here on this island) I have so much fun being out on that boat with them.....I get to look up and see pelicans, ibis and assorted wildlife flying by. Then I look over the edge and I see dolphins. Yup....life is pretty darn good here on our island.
I look forward to meeting the rest of you on Dogster and hopefully, we can all become canine friends. Sending all of you wet doggie kisses and an affectionate hug.
Miss Holly
