Arrival Story: I was contacted by a rescue group in OK about a Siberian Husky in our local shelter. Would I be willing to evaluate him as to adoptability? And if adoptable, spring him, "foster" him over the weekend, and help transport him down there? SURE! He had been screaming the "Siberian death scream" for almost a month, and was on his last day. When he saw me, he gave a soft "woo" that melted my heart and that the worker had never heard from him! "If I'd known he could be that sweet...." I convinced them to give Yodel, as they named him, one more day, so I could prepare my husband and the 3 other Siberians. :) We thought it could go OK for one weekend, and that we'd just have to keep him and alpha-Stormy apart. HA! He walked in like he owned the place, "Hi everybody, I'm home!" and just fit right in. Even Storms accepted him... because he's just so NICE. When it came time to transport him, I just couldn't. I called OK and let them know Dave found his forever home right here. :)

Bio: It was hard to find a name he'd respond to! We tried all kinds of names on him and nothing fit. My husband joked that we could name him Dave -- Dave Thomas, of Wendy's Restaurants had just passed away. He had been adopted and was a great advocate of adoption.... served our country in uniform.... and through his highly successful career was known to those who knew him as just a heck of a nice guy! :) As soon as my dh said, "Dave," our Dave looked at him and cocked his head. It was the first name he responded to... and it just REALLY fits!
He's also decided he is my Guide Dog for the Color Blind - loves helping me choose tile flooring, pavers for the backyard, and fabrics in my quilt studio. VERY helpful and apparently has better color sense than I do.
