Ever since the first Service Skills and Tricks class, mom has been doing some training with Ollie and me. First she puts me in my crate and works with Ollie, then it is my turn. The only problem is that mom doesn't have a quiet clicker anymore, so we had to spend a few days working on me getting used to the noisy one. Maybe it's because I'm old and getting a little hard of hearing, but after 6.5 years with mom I finally like the loud clicker noise! While mom was training me to like the loud clicker, she was working with Ollie on things like crawling across the floor, taking objects and sticking out his tongue. So she decided to start training me for those things (well, except taking objects since I already know that one) a couple of days ago. I didn't much like crawling-- not good for my arthritic knees, you know-- so we've been sticking with tongue licking. This is the easiest trick in the book! Today is my third day working on it (5 min each day) and mom already is introducing the cue word! I am so smart, and this licking thing is a snap. When it is Ollie's turn, I sit in my crate and laugh at him because he just doesn't get it, he doesn't understand what mom is clicking for! Ha ha, I am smarter than Ollie! Poodles are supposed to be smart, but Ollie is definitely a LOT slower than me!
