December 23rd made one year of being home with my mommy.
So much changed in this past year. I've made alot of changes myself. I have learned that I shouldn't be agressive and I shouldn't try to fight with the other doggies in the household. Bol, ok ok, so i have my moments but still, I have made a really huge turn a round and mom sure don't mind braggin about it! BOL!
For those who don't remember, this is what happend,
I had been at NABS for a long time, with mom working with me while she lived in TX...and then she got to adopt me, and i got to stay with her for a month, but i bit someone accidentally and then I was sent back to NABS... Mom never gave up hope of re-adopting me, but then three days after returning me, Mom was sent to live in Florida. This was in 2005.
Mom adopted Kasey the golden retriever in January 2006. Then in November they decided to foster bethy. ..and then again in December, the family took a trip to Bainbridge Humane Society, to look at another dog to foster, While at the shelter, mom saw a dog that looked just like me, and she stopped at the cage, and even though the floors were wet with pee and etc, mom sat on her knees and cried in front of this dogs cage... she wanted to take this one with her, but she wasn't completely sure. She just kept crying...she said she missed me... Me.
A few days before Christmas, 2006, Mom was told her grandfather would be going to Nashville for a extra mail run. Mom didn't think anything out of the ordinary from it, because sometimes grandpap did things like that. Well December 23 he was back, and called ahead and said that he had some things in his car that he needed unloaded since he stopped and visited his friend on the way home and had some stuff.
Mom was told to go outside.
Grandpap left the hood of his car open, and inside mom saw a dog kennel, and she thought this was odd, so as she is walking to his car, she kept going "theres a dog kennel in his car, why is there a dog kennel in his car?!"....then she turned to the dog pen they built, and there i sat, I had heard her voice and had been boucning all around anyway...and she just covered her mouth and screamed "OHMYGOSH!!"...and at first, she couldnt tell if it was me, or sylena, but i started jumping and she knew it was me. She started bawling her eyes out...
As a Christmas present from NABS, Gaye Hart paid $150 to have me trained and socialized for a week. Pam sent a video message, and Grandpap drove 800 miles from Tallahassee, Florida, to Houston, Texas, (a 1600 mile round trip!)... all because of a love of a dog, and her human, and the love a grandfather has for his grand daughter.
I still have my issues, a year later, i still have issues that need resolving, but I have made leaps and bounds in fitting in the family and learning how to play for the first time in my life, I am learning how to play!
Mom is so proud! When she watches me, she cries. BOL..what a girl.
Who knows what is in store for me, changes wise in the new year of 2008?
Mom is going to be going to school for the Professional dog trainer/Canine behavior specialist in October, providing all goes well with the surgery and physical therapy finishes on time!
She is becoming a Canine Behavior Specialist/ Professional Dog Trainer, to help me with my issues, and then to turn around and help other dogs who have similiar issues, in either peoples homes, or in shelters and help make shelter dogs more adoptable.
sounds cool, huh?
Yeah I know!
But today is Christmas and mom was outside, taking pictures..and I decided to show her that I loved her.
