Leave a bone for IN MEMORY OF "SARGENT PEPPER"

Sarge, Handsome Fella, Good Boy

Doggie Dynamics:
not playfulvery playful

Sun Sign:
Quick Bio:

May 1st 1993

I like to sit on the sofa next to Grandpa and take naps. I also love it when the grandbaby takes a nap next to me and uses me for a pillow. see pictures

I hate all loud noises. I am petrified of Thunderstorms. I also did not like those new puppies that my sister had a few year back . Mama promised no more litters until I am gone.

Favorite Toy:
Toy? Who need toys? I have a sister and she is the best toy around. I'm old. I just want lots of love

Favorite Food:
Anything and everything that I should not have I like. People food is a real treat to me and I love my grandbaby. She drops all kinds of food for me.

Favorite Walk:
I'll go anywhere, anytime. Just bring me along. I like to go camping as mom and dad let me run a bit more. I have been introduced to the entire campground & they know where I live should I stray a bit to visit. Once in a while I can snatch a hot dog.

Best Tricks:
My best trick is to sit back and let my little sister get into something first, then I follow along and she gets the blame usually. I'm too old for this nonsense of doing tricks. Just give me lots of love and let me take my naps on my sofa.

Arrival Story:
We had lost our Cocker/Brittney mix of cancer. Went to humane society. I had grown up with Collies but was looking for another replacement like what we had. We walked in my husband spotted this dog on a leash up front and petted him. He asked if they were purchasing him. They said no, he was a stray. The Humane Society thought he was at least 10 years old and too old to be adopted so they were going to put him down. However, the MWCR came to rescue him and had named him Sargent Pepper . He had the name all of 10 minutes, but we liked it and kept it. Sarge came right up to my husband and burried his head in his chest. I came over, and all I saw was this poor matted dog who was so thin that he hardly had enough strength to stand up. His rear leg was shaking/whobbeling. I went down to pet him by sitting on floor and he came over, laid next to me, and placed/burried his head on my lap and made this moaning sound. (A sound like he loved the petting) Actually, Sarge pick US out as his new forever home. We begged for him with two of the nicest people who foster dogs for the MWCR. (That you "DUTTERS") We interviewed for him, and said we would do whatever it took to make him ours. We told them they could come over immediately and inspect our home so they could see it for what it really was rather than being prepared. When the MWCR saw the immediate bond that went on between us and Sarge they gave it back to the Humane Society, and we were able to purchase it from them, after having him neutered. Within 6 months we had gradually got him up to 65 lbs. Sarge is now a stable 72 lbs and sturdy. His coat is full, shiny and beautiful. He has had only 1 accident in our home since we got him three years ago. If there were such a thing as a perfect dog... It is him. We thank the lord above daily for such a blessing as Sir Sargent Pepper.

I am tired. I am old. I can't see well and mama and daddy have to lift all 75lbs of me up the steps after I go outside. I still can go down the steps but they guide me to make sure I don't fall. I love them very much and they take such good care of me. I know they are worried sick about me. I am a good boy and love to be loved up. I feel bad when I loose control of my stool once in a while, but my parents NEVER dicipline me for it. I still can control my bladder anyway so that helps. I wish I could just fall asleep so that mama and daddy don't feel bad when they have to put me down. My parents are stubborn, but only because they love me so much. They say, as long as I eat and am healthy, they will not put down. They say that you just don't put people and dogs down because they become paralized but they won't let my pride and dignity go, nor let me sit in my own pooh. I guess its a vow, like in sickness or in health they will be there for me. Please say a prayer for me and my parents so that I can tell them when it is time for me to move on. I love the life I have had with my family and all the attention and love they have shown me from the very beginning. There are some advantages of getting older.. Like.... Mama spoils me more by letting me eat more" people food" than I really should. I always get the last bite. Hot dogs are still my favorite. My parents are heartbroken over watching me grow old. Even my bratty sister, Roxie, "Monster Puppy" mama calls her, has learned now that jumping on me makes me sore and if she does that, mama really scolds here. Ha ha... I still have enough energy in me to enjoy seeing her get scolded, and mama won't give her people food like I get it.. Life is good with a Hot Dog and last bite of Pizza.

Missing Sarge

Oh Sarge. If you only knew how much you are missed.

We had our family Halloween Party again this year. We thought it would be easier the 2nd year without you, but it was not.

We miss your groans, your sometimes, smelly breath, your burbs and most of all your cuddles and kisses. You were such a gentle giant.

Why can't you just come back. Just long enough for me to pet your coat, give you a hug and you to kiss my face again.

We love you Sarge. You will never be forgotten.

Spring is here and you are not. We miss you very much and your sister Roxie is lost without you. We want to get her someone to play with, but we just can't seem to get over the loss of you.

About the only good thing we can say about you being gone is, this Spring when Roxie Blew her coat, we remembered how last year you both blew your coats at same time and our carpet was white instead of Green. This year we have much less of a mess.

But we would put up with any mess, a million times to our knees, just to have you back and get one of those big old puppy collie kisses from you again.

Take care Sarge. You are loved and will never be forgotten.

Oh Sarge, You are so missed. I don't have my kitchen friend, sitting staring at me with those big brown eyes. You patiently waited and watched while I baked cookies and I loved it that I never had a dirty floor while I was baking, as you made sure every scrap was picked up. When I was done with each batch, I went to throw you a cookie to try with me, but you were not there. I cried. Oh how you loved baking cookies with me.

I wake up and your face is not in mine, with your hot, stinky breath telling me you have to go outside or that Roxie, your sister, is in to something. (And she has become a monster puppy) She is lonely too!

I promised you when I said goodbye, I will keep your memory alive . I put a cookie on your grave. Perhaps, somehow, you can get it. I love you Sarge. We all miss you terribly.
