On Monday, it will be one year exactly since I came to my new home.
If I do say so myself, I am not the same dog! I am not the scaredy cat (ha ha) i used to be, although I still can be shy, expecially around men.
I have graduated from basic obedience (I even have a diploma :)) ) and now I am going to agility training every Friday. I hate to boast, but I think I am the best dog in my group! (2nd level beginner). I love jumping and i'm even good on the teeter totter. The only thing I have yet to do is the "slalom"
And not only that, I have also started Search and Rescue training. It's only with 2 other people, but it's great fun and maybe one day I will even be a hero!

Alot of time has passed. Life is quite the fun. I play with my sister Bardot, and my human kid too. Sometimes she does dumb things, like carry me around in her arms, or put hair decoration things on my tail or ears. sheesh.
I go for walks every day...twice a day. Sometimes with Bardot, and sometimes not. When we go to big areas, like parks and schoolyards, Mom lets me run without the leash now, since she knows that whenever she calls me, I will come back like a shot. I love running and exploring. But I love running back to mom too!
Mom has been trying to teach me "fetch". I really haven't had much experience with playing, and it is taking me a while...but I do believe i am catching on. I know other good stuff, tho', like sitting at the curb and waiting for mom to say it's OK, before I cross the street.
Sometimes mom takes me with her when she teaches. I am not so fond of meeting lots of new people, really. But I go, and I'm a good girl. Anyways, this way I am with mom, and don't have to stay in the house just with Bardot.
I have started obedience course, which i don't really like. Alot of walking around doing the same thing over and over. I think i'm too smart for this. After the fourth or fifth "down" I don't see why i have to do it again and again. thankfully, we haven't been going for a while. Hee hee...anyways, it's way too hot.
My mom really loves me and is always hugging and kissing me...but that's OK! I love her too!

Wow, time is flying by. I have been in this family almost 2 months now.
My memories of my time in the shelter are fading fast. I love my sister, Bardot. We have tons of fun together. We chase and play with all the toys my mom gives us. We love tug-of-war. Sometimes we play like we want to kill each other, and mom gets kind of worried, but we really are just doing it in fun.
(See some pics...hint..view as slideshow!!! http://photobucket.com/albums/v209/zitagsd/frisbeeplay%20may 2005/?)
When we get good and tired, we curl up together on the big bean-bag chair. Of course, if mom goes into another room, I always follow her. I MUST be with her at all times. I am GSD, and this is imperative!!!
Twice a day we go on walks together. Sometimes we go to the "Dream Rishon" park, where I can run free. I still have a leash attached, but there are lovely grassy hills and I can run like the wind up there. I love it!
My mom has started to teach me stuff. E.g. everytime we are walking and we get to a curb, I sit and wait until my mom says its safe to go. Bardot does this too. We are a cute pair, sitting so nicely at the curb like that.
Two weeks ago we went to get shots (rabies) I also got microchipped. I think that this means that i have a little computer inside me and if I get lost I will always be able to get sent back to my mom. I also had a visit to the vet for a checkup, and I got a shot against some awful disease casued by eating Dung Beetles. Yuck...why would i eat such a thing. But anyways...i had to get the shot anyways.
Well, I guess this is enough for now. I am very happy in my home. I have started to become nice and friendly to people. I don't think they are so awful anymore and sometimes they even have treats for me! Everyone is nice...dad and the human kids. I

OK....I guess i was wrong, but I am just a pup. My mom knows I love shoes. She knows she is supposed to make suer they are not within my reach.
But Tuesday evening, Mom went to bed and forgot to make sure that dad's brand new sandals were off the floor.
How could I resist...I was pretty good, tho'...I only chewed a bit on the leather. Hardly any teeth marks at all. But that plastic buckle...oh that was irresistable. I demolished the ankle one, and got started on the toe one.
Mom woke up before dad and saw the sandal on my pillow. At first she thought it looked OK...just a bit mauled. Then she noticed the plastic bits on the pillow. I do believe I heard her stomach lurch!
Well, mom, being mom...she ran to see how she could fix them. And found 2 D-rings and replaced the buckles on that left shoe. Dad noticed the tear, but didn't notice that one shoe had black buckles, and one silver!!!!
This was Wednesday morning. Thursday evening, so my mom tell it, they were visiting inlaws, when all of a sudden dad notices that the two sandals are with different buckles. But, he doesn't remember, i guess, the fact that I had chewed one, or doesn't think of it. He thinks he brought them home from the store that way.
Poor mom is hearing him tell the story, and all the relatives are laughing, and telling their own stories of silly things like that (like the time one came home with two left shoes in the box!) And she is too embarrassed to say anything.
Well, that night dad starts looking for the receipt so that he can return them to the store, and mom had to confess. Happily, he wasn't mad for tooooo long. Mom took the sandals the next day to the shoemaker, who fixed them (almost) good as new.
At least both buckles are the same color now!

HI there...my name is Honey, I look like a coated GSD, but I am much smaller. I weigh only 16kg and I am 9 mo. old.
I was adopted on April 3 from the Rishon Le Zion Loves Animals animal rescue.
My mom was there the Friday before, looking for a dog. She wanted a dog that LOOKED like a GSD but was smaller than your average GSD. She looked at the dogs, and the lady there tried to convince her to take another (very big!!!) dog that was desperate for a home. But mom was smart and didn't give in. She knew what she wanted! While she was there, she spoke to Adella, a volunteer, and told her what she was looking for. Adella said that she had, at her home on a kibbutz, a small GSD, BUT, she said, this GSD is VERY shy.
That Sunday, Mom drove out to see this shy babe. I was in a kennel with 3-4 other dogs. I didn't like anyone coming near me, but Adella caught me and carried me out. Mom took one look at me and knew that she just had to have me. YOu see, not only was I a mini "GSD" but I was long-haired. Just like Zita (see her page, under my family). I was put into a little crate in the car and taken home.
Poor mom, she really didn't know how to deal with me. I wouldn't come out of the crate. Thankfully, mom got some great advice from a wonderful lady named Anna at the Toronto GSD Rescue.
I stayed in my crate for THREE WHOLE DAYS...didn't eat, didn't drink, didn't pee, didn't poop. I know my mom was worried about the no-peeing part. Finally, on Wednesday evening, I couldn't hold it in any longer, and I filled my crate with a yellow pool! I had to come out...so i ran into the office/computer room, while mom cleaned out my crate.
From that moment, everything is getting better. Mom could pick me up to take me outside, and after a day or two, I even walked out on my own.
At first I ran away from everybody. Mom would sit on the stairs, read a book but have a treat in her hand. She didn't even look at me. But I learned to take the treat. Soon i didn't mind if she looked at me. And of course, now I love her and run to her and give her kisses and get belly rubs.
The other skinpeople are still on my "wary" list...but they SEEM to be OK. We'll see. The little girl can be a bit pushy...but she's only 11 years old. So I will forgive her. I know she loves me.
I started following my mom all over the house, although when she went upstairs, I was a bit afraid of the stairs. Mommy tricked me...she left a trail of hotdogs up the stairs, and soon I found I had climbed the whole thing.
It didn't take long for me to learn to jump up on the bed so I could snuggle for a nap. Soon I was running all over the house.
I learned to go for walks. Now I LOVE walks. I love to get my leash put on and go for a walk. I also learned that the CAR is the best thing on earth. Just open the door, and I am in. Cars can take you to GREAT places! Like a park where you can just run and run and run. One day I got a ride to the VET, who gave me treats and mom bought me a tick collar. I don't know why dogs don't like vets. This vet was great...all he did was give me cheese to eat. Then we left.
I haven't yet mentioned my sister, Bardot (she has a page too). I am very glad that Bardot is here. She shows me how to do things. She showed me how to jump in the car, and how to sit to get my leash. She also showed me to jump on the bed. Also to eat...Bardot likes to eat, which isn't SOOO great, cuz she ate my new ball, and she always eats my bones. She is like my dog-mom. Sometimes she plays with me, too!
Anyways, I have been her almost 4 weeks now. I got spayed 8 days ago. I have all my shots, except still need to get rabies and a chip. Is that a potato chip?
I think this is a nice place and I am glad to be here.
Bye for now
Honey
