Arrival Story:
My husband was driving back home from being out of town, he was still about 1 1/2 hours from home and the transfer truck in front of him slammed on it's brakes. There was Petey standing in the middle of a busy highway, wearing a coat!BOL My husband called him and he jumped right into his truck. We did look for his owner and we did find a guy that had him for a week. Someone at a gas station was trying to give him away and this guy took him. The guy lived in TN and said Petey wondered off when he let him out. After talking with him we decided that it was best that he not go back to him. We were going to adopt him out but after staying with us a couple of weeks my hubby finally gave the approval to keep him! He is the sweetest, most loving dog I've ever been around. He is a lap pup! We have a few things to work on (house training) but he fits in perfect with the Morris Pack!

We think Petey is Lancashire Heeler. He looks just like one, but he could have JRT in him. Petey loves his furbro's and fursis! Is favorite thing is to be picked up and held. When we found him you could tell he had never been in a house before and didnt even know what a dog toy was or treat! Well he knows what they are now! He loves to play and loves his treats! Having 4 pups will be hard but it's worth everything having sweet Petey with us!

Do Dah Day - My first event!

Hi pups! I had a fun weekend, just me and Momma!
Normally mom takes Molly to all the "events" but she was wanting to see how I would do. She thinks I'm furry smart and could be trained real easy and maybe even trained to be a service pup and go visit people!
I havent been on a leash/harness much so this would be a big test.
Well of course I passed everything with passing colors. I walked so well on the leash and did so good around the hundreds of pups and people there. Do Dah Day is an event that has been going on in downtown Birmingham for over 30 years. It is to raise money for all kind of pup organizations. They have a parade and it's all set up in 2 different parks and there are bands, booths, food and lots of people and pups! It could be overwhelming for some pups but I did great! The only time I barked(well almost starting howling) was when I would see a balloon and it would pop. What kind of people bring balloons to a dog event??? I wasnt the only pup, lots of pups would start barking and were scared on them.
You know Mom has always thought that pups couldnt see real far and we know that pups dont see a lot of colors. Well Mom couldnt believe that when someone let go of a balloon it floated way way far in the sky and I kept my eye on that balloon the entire time and watched it till it was gone, it was red. Mom was so surprised that I could see that far, it looked pretty small that far in the sky!
A few people were very curious about what type of pup I was, some guessed corgi or JRT but Mom explained that she is pretty sure I'm a Lancashire Heeler and of course no one knew what that was but she gave the background on them. They all thought I was a pretty neat pup!
Mom's is excited about how well I did and will now start looking into some classes for me...just hope that part of the test doesnt involve balloons!BOL
Of course I slept in mom's lap all the way home and slept all night. It was a lot for a little pup to take in for one day!
It was a pawsome weekend!

Momma & Daddy are going on vacation...without me!

Hey pups!
Lots been going on this past month I havent had much time to bark about it in my diary! It's been very exciting living with a new furever family. I think I hit the jackpot when my Daddy found me. I never knew life could be so pawsome!
I love my fursibs but really love my Molly Girl! She and I are big pals. She has taught me how to play and I love playing tug of war with her. She even let's me win most of the time! I like running big circles in the back yard (cause I'm a herding dog)and all my fursibs start chasing me. Mom calls it exercise time!BOL
I'm very attached to my momma, even more than Molly (which mom thought wasnt possible..bol). I think since I'm small I'm more of a lap dog. I think Molly would be a lap dog if she didnt weigh 80lbs...she still tries to be sometimes!BOL
When Momma is home I just want her holding me. I stand up on my 2 back legs and dance and turn around (mom thinks it so cute) until mom picks me up..then I always flip over on my back and curl up. I feel the most secure when I do that. Mom says the only problem is that I shed terrible!!!! She thought Molly shed bad but for just a small dog she says that I shed more than her! Mom has been using the shedding comb on us cause she thinks we are shedding our winter coats early because of the warm weather.
Mom has to vacuum, dust, change blankets every day and she has to change shirts a couple of times a day because of my hair!
Ok, I guess I'm barking to you about how attached I am to my Momma cause she, Daddy & human bro are leaving us for 4 days!
My fursibs barked to me that they have never, ever done this before. At least Momma or Daddy stay home with us. My grandma is coming over to watch us...I dont know her furry well, she's been over a couple of times since I've been here, but I do remember she was nice! She love dogs! Mom has everything ready, all our meals cooked and put into bags, so at least I know we wont go hungry. I just hope she lets me lay in her lap all day and sleep next to her at night. Mom seems to think she will.
I know Molly will really miss momma too. The last time Momma went out of town and Daddy was home, Molly didnt sleep much at night cause she kept waiting on momma to come home. Maybe she will be more relaxed this time, at least we all have each other!
Well time to go spend as much time as I can with my family before they leave on vacation. I better get some treats and prizes from their trip!BOL

Background on my breed and update on me!

Hi pals! I've been having a furry exciting life at my new home! Mom & Dad say they I have really been showing my personality lately. Mom says I'm still the sweetest most loving pup ever!
Mom is convinced that I am a Lancashire Heeler! If you look it up I look just like them and have all the things they talk about. Mom is listing some of these things below:
From AKC -
"The Lancashire Heeler has a unique characteristic - The Heeler smile. When contented, Heelers have been known to draw back their lips in an effort that emulates a human smile."(Petey does this, it is so cute!)
"The Lancashire Heeler is a rare breed, numbering only around 5,000 worldwide."
"In 2003, the breed was placed on the endangered breed list of The Kennel Club, U.K., due to the small number of dogs composing the gene pool and the risk of several inherited diseases. An international effort is now underway to lessen the breeding of high risk dogs and to minimize and control the known health issues that face the breed."
"The Lancashire Heeler is truly a versatile breed. The Heeler works to this day as a herder and ratter, a gun dog, a
retriever, and a handicap assistance dog."(She has seen several places about the assistance dog, something to think about for me)
Mom found this info on another website:
"They make excellent watchdogs, their loud bark belying their small stature, and some have a tendency to ‘heel’ people and animals." (People cant get over how loud my bark is and mom says it's like a shrill) (Also, mom says I try to "heel/heard" my fursibs. I'm always walking in circles around them and cut them off from my thought I was just being a brat but now she knows it's because I'm a hearding dog!)(Remember mom talking about how I got the other dogs to chase me around the back yard, well I kept running in circles around it and now she is understanding it more!)
Mom has also notice how I like to stand on my back legs, she thought she might can teach me to dance.BOL...well she read this on the web:
"The Meerkat impersonation. A regular occurring stance of the Heeler and one that captivated Peter Jones and led him to get his first Lancashire Heeler, Pip. On visiting a farm in Staffordshire his first sight of the breed was to see a bitch and her puppies outside in the farm grounds. The bitch, he recalls had an incredibly feminine head and stood upright like a Meerkat." (Mom said she will try to get a picture of me doing it and I use my front legs/paws like hands and try to wrap them around's really cute and this whole time Mom thought this was just me but it's my breed!)
There is one thing I do that mom hasnt read that is part of my breed, I like to chew! Yeah, I know most dogs do but the way I do it is a little different! I'm sneaky about it! I like to get Buddy's little stuffies and I'll have it in my mouth and unless you look at me real close you dont realize I'm chewing it. I do a short, fast little chew, almost like if you were grinding your teeth!BOL Before you know it, I've chewed off the arm, head, leg of the stuffie. It's almost like a little saw!BOL When mom catches me doing it she tries to take it from me and say "no" and hands me a real chew toy(nylabone) but I dont wont that! We are working on it!
If any of you have rescues and you think you know what they are or what they are mixed with, Mom suggest to research that breed and read about was fun for mom to see all the things I do that is my breed! Also they mention that my breed is prone to eye problems and they should be checked by eye vets on a regular basis! My mom is going to talk to my vet next time and print out some of the articles that tell about the eye problems we get, so maybe to prevent some things, if possible!
Well I'm having a great life with my new family and I get lots of love and I love that mom cooks "real" food for us every night...what??? you mean not all moms cook for their furs every!!!! I'm so lucky to be me!
