Arrival Story:
It was Spring of 2002 and we had been considering getting a dog since we had just moved out of our apartment in Mililani and into the new house at Pearl Harbor...Well we were both working late one day, but my wife (who is in the Navy) had some leave (giving us a long weekend), so I got a call from her while I was at work, saying we should look and that there was ad in the local Honolulu Advertiser for doxies! Well it just so happened that the place was The Kennel Shop (off Salt Lake Blvd. and just a couple of miles away from our new house) and they was an ad for two miniature male black and tan dachshunds. My wife was working until 10pm that night and said I should go check them out after work. Well I KNEW things were going to work out, because on the short drive over to the store, I saw no less than 6 people walking their dogs in our new neighborhood. It was karmic. When I got to the shop, I asked the lady if I could see the puppies, she brought them both out, and they ran around and around...Zaar's brother, however, was only interested in fighting /nipping at Zaar and biting the toys, but Zaar, this lil guy kept approaching me, inquisitive, sniffing, friendly, tail-wagging, etc. He approached me four separate times, and I decided finally that he was the one. I couldn't afford to buy them both (though I was very tempted). I whipped out the Visa, and bought Zaar-dog on the spot...the rest is one great history.

Wow, being here in Japan, my daddy was sleeping during most of Friday (of course it was Friday night for US) day-time (in the States). AND WOW were there ever a lot Pup pal requests and goodies and congratulation when we woke up!

DOTD has been a great experience. We've got to meet a ton of new friends, both doxie and non-doxie (really the only two categories we dachshunds recognize).

Woof, woof, grr - thanks for all attention and love.

Wow, what a surprise. I got an email earlier today saying I'd been selected as dog of the day - and pup pal requests, gifts and adulation have just been pouring in ever since!

I really like it! (being an attention-hound helps).

Thanks Dogster!
