As you know, I'm 17 and haven't been eating good lately. Well, Grandma and Grandpa knows why now.

Troubles and tears surround us today. Our dear Tux is so sick. See, I've been diagonsed with acute kidney failure. Doc agreed that I didn't act like it was time, and I don't want to go yet! but I won't take his meds! He's got to take them, Mom said! I have two heart pills and now two kidney pills I'm also taking in fluids too.

Grandpa called Mom at work and told her to bring Diamond and some food out to the house. As some of you know, we have been having a hard time keeping Tux eating, and now it's worse. He pulled a muscle in his leg and then ran off two days in a row! He did come back by himself both times but the second day he was in pitiful shape. That's when he went to the vets for the second time and we found out his kidneys were going down for the count. Mom tried covering the pills with ice cream, pimento cheese and peanut butter. The peanut butter worked but she still had to be forceful with him. Which she hated doing. He took all but one pill of the two kidney pills. Grandma said she would bring him over to our house tomorrow night for round two.

Mom- He has to eat and he has to take his meds, if he doesn't he'll leave us. Grandma thanks they are fighting a losing battle. Mom agrees he's being awfully stubborn about the whole thing. Purr that he will understand all of this. And purr that he doesn't bite My finger again. It was a minor causality of war today.

Sad note: Diamond told me they were all sitting outside enjoying the afternoon when Grandpa and Grandma started talking about how much grey he's gotten in the past two weeks. This haunted Mom's thoughts all night.

Please whimper for my boy....Doc is going out of town next Thur. to next Tues. and I'm so afraid something bad is going to happen during that time. Please keep us in mind.

Update:I started throwing up yesterday morning. Throwing up is the first sign. Grandma, Grandpa and Mom discussed Quality of life. I've barely ate all weekend other than some baby food. Grandma broke the caplets of Kidney medicine into some water and used a dropper off and on during the day to get them in me.
I don't want to go but the poisons in my brain are telling me not to eat.

Mom- Haven't talked to parents yet. We were going to see how he does today. We know in the bottom of our hearts he's not going to get better. Doc even hinted around to this at the last visit. It really is up to the animal. But, I don't see that sparkle in his eyes anymore. He acts like ever sense he hurt his shoulder He's given up. We've discussed sparing him from the pain and seizures that are followed by death. I will update you later.

Good news! I talked to my mother and she said Tux ate a whole chicken breast with two spoonfuls of his KD diet food last night. She also was able to slide his heart pills in too. She did the kidney pill/water trick to get that in him. He's getting his IV fluids well too. Could all the medicine finally be helping? Or is this just a fluke. I guess it will be a day to day thing.

Tux is 17, we don't expect him to live forever. But if the meds work and he perks up some, we'll take a few more months with him.

Thank all of you for your purrs and whimpers. It seemed to help him.

Hi Tux,

I am writing for Tigger since kitties can't write in Dogster diaries. He says he is sending his love and purrs to you. Also, is there a way your mommy can get liquid medicine? There is a compounding pharmacy where Tigger lives and his mom gets his medicine made into liquid form because he won't take pills. Is that a possibility?

Zoe (kitty) wrote last night that I'm doing better. Not great but better. Mom was going to update my diary tonight but she had to leave Maxs Mom. (another kitty) Anyway, Doc had told Mom and and the Grands that we could bust open the capsule and sprinkle it on his food. Well, I wasn't eating as you know but it donged on Mom we can put it in water and give it to him with a dropper. Know we don't know if that's made a difference or the purrs and whimpers we got.

One day away from my planned trip to the bridge to spare me suffering, I decide to eat and boy did I eat. That was Sun night. Grandpa told Mom on the phone today he ate last night too. He is getting his meds and is now started drinking water again. Hallelujah!

Mom figures it just took longer than doc expected for the meds to get in my system. (especially with him biting fingers instead of taking all his pills LOL) She knows its still to early to jump up and down but this is good news.

Live one day at a time.
