Hi pups. My new furbro, Petey, had to get stitches out today so for some crazy reason Mom decided to take me! She said I was due for a check up. I got to ride in Buddy's booster seat and I love it. Mom said it's mine now! When we got there I was very nervous and didnt want to go in the door but mom made me. As soon as we got in there I decided to poop! Mom couldnt believe it but lucky no other pups were in the waiting room. I was very upset so Mom thinks I was having flash backs to when I had my back surgery and had to stay at the vet for 10 days, locked in a cage and wearing a cone! Mom kept telling me she wasnt leaving me but I just couldnt be too sure. I had a pretty good check up. Mom talked to the vet about my seizures. They are going to try potassium bromide because it's not as bad for your liver. Have any of you pups been on it, and if so, did it help? We tried this once before but it was the liquid form and mom couldnt get it down my throat and she wore more of it then I took so she finally gave up on it! The vet told her it came in "pill" form, which we didnt know, so we will try again. I'll eat almost anything!BOL
After I take it for 6-8 weeks I go back for blood work and to get my teeth cleaned! The Dr was more concerned with the tarter on my teeth because of the health problems it can cause, almost more than my seizures. So he wants to see if this helps my seizures and then they will clean my teeth.
Oh, Petey got his stitches out and is doing great!
Mom was talking about how much all her furkids have cost this past month. All 4 of us have been and its always $200 each time she goes! That's why she cant afford more pups and was concerned about taking Petey, but she did say we are all worth it. Unfortunately for her, all of our shots and check ups are all due around the same time and around Christmas. She said she might have to open a savings account for us to pay for our checkups each year!BOL
Mom was thinking about taking us to the dog park, since finally no pup has stitches and we are all up to date on our shots. The sun is shinning but the wind is pretty cold. She said we might go tomorrow cause she doesnt want to over do it for me. I did throw up when we got home, which she thinks was my nerves!
Mom said we all need exercise, but it's too much trying to walk 4 dogs at same time. She thinks if we go to dog park, she can just walk around the perimeter of the park and we will always follow her(we dont let her out of our sight) and maybe that would give us a little exercise. Since we are all different sizes, weights and have different health issues, that we could all walk at our own pace and stop if we need to. She said we will try it and see what happens. We dont play much with the other pups at the park so this would get us moving some!
Have a great weekend pups, we hear that some of you have snow...oh I wish it would snow here!

First of all, send me a big dump truck, and I will fill it up with all of our snow... and send it right back to you all...

Glad that Petey is doing well.

I hope your seizures will get better, and i hope you do OK at the vet when you have your dental.

Woofs to all of you and have a good walk/romp at the park.

Your momma should be happy you pooped right when you came into the vet office as it saved her a small fee for them to extract a sample from you - BOL, BOL

I too have my own car seat but it sits too low for me to see out the window - DARN!!!!!!

How's this for an idea about paying the vet bills at Christmas? All of the peepoles in your family can give up presents they might get to pay for the vet bills and still get you pups some gifties.
That could work.

We don't have much snow here either, Scooter, or I would send you some. Hopefully the potassium bromide will help with seizures. Glad that Petey got his stitches and hopefully you can all go to the dog park soon.

Zoe, that is real good thinking!!! I like thta idea.

Here is another money saving one: Instead of going to your vet for shots why not call the local animal shelter and ask about shot clinics that they might have. Usually these are a lot cheaper than what a vet charges or can refer you to someone who has lower prices. Also, some Pet Co stores also offer shot clinics but be sure to price them because they are not always cheaper.

Yeah and Puff, there's that whole camp that believes us pets are being over-vaccinated. Scooter, maybe have your Mom do some research about that.
Then maybe you wouldn't even have to go to the vet so often.

Thanks pups for all the ideas. Zoe, love the Christmas idea and mom has done research and she only wants us to have the DHLP every 3 years and our vet will let us do that until we have a surgery, then they say they require it...so since I have to have my teeth cleaned they make me have it..mom totally believes that pups are being over-vaccinated!
@Puff, mom did take Molly last year to a clinic and got a discounted shots but now that we are all falling around Dec needing them done, most places do those clinics in the summer, but that is a good idea and she will watch for them. As far as a cheaper place...we are there now..lol...mom found the cheapest vet around...we drive 45 mins to get to them but we also love the vets! Normally we save about 1/2 compared to other vets...for example, when Molly had hip (FHO) surgery it was $480 and the next cheapest place was $1200!!!!
Keeping paws crossed we make it to the dog park tomorrow!!

Hey Scooter - I hope you make it to the dog park tomorrow.
From one Scooter to another, I think it was a perfect statement outside the V-E-T place, I doo the same thing when I go for my butt squeezes. As I look at it, I'm doing them a favor.
I have to get my teeth cleaned and loose weight too. Mom says she has her own personal heavy breather when I follow her around the house.
