Memorial Day Weekend 2010

I had a health scare over the weekend. I was licking my paw a bunch Sunday morning and when my people checked it, they found a big lump that had a lumpy top on it. The lump hadn't been there a few days before. It had started to bleed a little so they put me in the car at 7 am and took me to the e-vet.

The e-vet said it looked like a histiocytoma which she said is a tumor that is usually benign. My woman looked them up and chatted with some people who have had experience with these and found out they could do some nasty things.

We waited for Tuesday to come so I could go to the vet clinic. By that time my lump had become a wound and it turned out to be an abscess from when I got poked by the spruce needle a couple of weeks before.

It's healing up pretty good but I don't like having to get my paw wiped with the stuff the vet clinic gave us or having to take those huge antibiotics twice a day!

Waiting For Summer

It just won't stop raining here! I'm ready for some nice weather so my people can take me to the beach. It rained so hard a couple of days ago that my man had water coming through his raincoat and the sidewalks were flooded but we still went for a 3 hour walk!

My paw is still looking good but the antibiotics gave me stink butt so I am getting a little yogurt now. I'm really happy I don't have to take any more of the antibiotics.

We are getting ready to go on a trip to Montana in the upcoming months. I went for the 1st time last year and had a lot of fun. I really liked the place my man grew up because there's a lake and snow and lots of good sniffs! We'll be spending almost 2 weeks there this year!

Big Changes At My House

So we went on a long trip to Montana at the end of last month - gone 16 nights! I got to run in the mountains, swim and play in the snow every day - sometimes twice a day! There was so much snow that my lakes were still frozen and we had to hike over 3 to 6 feet of snow to get to them!!! My man said he's never seen so much snow that late. And it snowed on us 3 times too! I saw lots of deer and a cougar!

When we got home my squirrel tree in the front yard was gone and all that was left were big hunks of wood. My woman says the tree broke while we were gone and part of it hit the neighbors' house. Their house is OK. My people say that since the tree is gone they're going to fence in the front yard so my friends and I can play safely out front and they're going to make it so we can run from the back yard to the front yard too! They've promised to plant me a new squirrel tree.

A couple of days ago some people came and did some stuff in my back yard. Yesterday they came back and poured concrete. My people say they're going to build 2 sheds to replace 2 sheds that are already there. 1 shed will be torn out and they are going to put in a water feature there and try to make it something that I can play in! I really like to play in water.

I forgot to tell everyone that I met my Dogster pal Dixie while we were in Montana. My woman and Dixie's woman know each other from another online site and Facebook.

In the past week or so I found out that my Dogster pal Solace, we play together a lot in the park, lives on the same street I do! Her woman was out in her yard doing some work so I had to go give her kisses and Solace got to come out and play!

Moisture Is Falling From the Sky!!!

I think I remember what that stuff coming down outside is called! Rain, I think!!! It hasn't rained here since I went to Montana. Maybe now I can start digging for gophers again. My people say it's been too dry because getting a nose full of the dusty-dry dirt aggravates my allergies.

I've been playing with my Dogster pal Solace a lot lately. She's really cool. My best friend's people are out of town so I don't get to play much with him because the people taking care of him are afraid to let him off leash.

I got a blackberry thorn stuck in my paw pad yesterday and it hurt. My man had a hard time getting it out and when it finally came out, he made it bleed so it would wash anything out that shouldn't be there. I had a spruce needle poke me a couple of months ago and got an abscess from stuff that got left behind.

I helped build a door for the new workshop and am going to help build the storage shed that attaches to the side of the house this weekend because my people have a 4-day weekend.

So Tired - Too Much Play This Weekend

So I helped my people work on the storage shed attached to the side of the house on Saturday. Boy are they slow - they've been working on the thing forever! They keep saying they can't work in the rain and we've been having a lot of it this month. I decided they really need my help so I keep trying to climb the ladder. I also played in my pool, dug in my dirt pile, played ball, played with my best friend (the Whippet across the street), went for a long walk, played with friends in the park, played with my cat friend and chased squirrels Saturday when I wasn't helping.
Sunday I took my man for a 4-hour walk and played with friends. It was raining so we didn't do any work on the shed. My one friend came over and as they were leaving, she slipped her collar and ran off so we had to help catch her. She loves to run from her woman but she also loves food so we got her back with a bag of Charley Bear Treats. We also helped her woman fit the collar so it wouldn't come off again. I got to play with my best friend too - we were wild!!!

Today I slept way in - all the way until 7:00 a.m.
Tonight the weather was nice so I got to play in my pool. Now my people make sure I get up every 90 minutes to go pee after I play pool because I drink a lot of water, play really hard then fall into a deep sleep. I've had some problems where I don't wake up when I need to pee after playing pool and I've wet my bed. I get so embarrassed! They lost track of the time and when they woke me up to go pee after 2 hours, I'd leaked a little. My woman stayed up really late steam cleaning my foam bed and washing my bed cover for me. I was really upset over having an accident even though I didn't get in trouble. My woman says we're going to do something really fun tomorrow to make up for them losing track of the time.

My woman made me a blanket and I love it. It's really soft and has dog bones and paw prints on it. She made it big enough that we can snuggle up under it together.

Swimming

I've gotten to go swim in a pool twice in the past month! I love to swim. The water's really warm though, I wish it was colder! I usually swim in water that is around freezing and this water is like 90 degrees. But it is really fun. I get to retrieve my dummy toy and everything!
My people say I get to go swim at the end of the month again!

I Was Abducted By Aliens At The Vet Office!

So January 31 I became the victim of an alien abduction while at the vet office! I remember being fine when I got there then the vet gave me a shot that really stung. I started to get sleepy.
I remember bright lights and voices! There was anal probing and things that made whirring sounds. When I woke up, I was missing some fur on my side and had some stitches!
I called the FBI and asked for agent Mulder. They said he wasn't real. Obviously it's a conspiracy!
Trust no one! The truth is out there!

On Jan. 31, Chance had a small lump removed from her shoulder. Her vet felt it was a papilloma but we had it sent out for testing anyway. Those results came back today and it was just a papilloma with clean margins so it won't grow back.

Chance also had either another UTI or the same one from November. We had a culture done to make sure the right antibiotic was used. We asked for a longer antibiotic course so Chance will be taking Baytril for 3 weeks instead of just 10 days.

Her vet also noticed she has a mildly recessed vulva and wanted us to see a specialist, have her bladder scoped and probably have vulva surgery to correct this.
Yesterday, we saw another vet who has done 3 of those surgeries for a 2nd opinion. After reviewing her records and looking at her vulva, he didn't see a need for anything other than keeping her vulva clean. She also got a little bikini trim to help her vulva get more air. She's a very hairy dog!

Hip Getting Better

My hip is getting better which makes all of us happy. Maybe I'll be able to play with friends again by the end of the month!
