 Quick Bio:
Likes: Aida simply loves EVERYTHING! Including, but not limited to - swimming for miles, eating, staring at Canada Geese flying south, eating, her "brother",eating, people, eating, her chewie toys, eating, snoring on the couch and eating.

Pet-Peeves: This dawg does definitely NOT enjoy wearing her winter coat. She tolerates her booties, when it -45. But no coat, no how!

Favorite Toy: She is particularly fond of her chewies, but all her stuffed toys occupy a special place in her heart - her honking goose, giant turtle and squeaky dog have all been delicately disemboweled with tender affection. Any ball will also do.

Favorite Food: Food is food, dood. And if its edible, she's game. Doesn't seem to care for Pepto-Bismal when she does imbibe, though.

Favorite Walk: She has been known to take herself on a brisk trot after any fleeing animal - she does seem to enjoy ambling quickly after cats, however.

Best Tricks: That girl is a veritable encyclopadia of tricks - her best is "hubba hubba", which she can say quite clearly if there is a cookie involved.

Arrival Story: We were looking for a dawgie companion for our fair Petey, when we happened to come across Stickee. She was being offered for adoption by a local rescue organization when we found her on Petfinder.com (an organization I endorse whole-heartedly). We had previously adopted a dog from Kitsap Humane Society (Silverdale, Washington) and were looking to adopt another dog from our area when we came across WAG (Welfare for Animals Guild, Port Angeles, Washington).
As soon as we saw her photo we knew that was the dog who would be part of our family.
We filled out an online application for her, and were shortly contacted by Claire Cornell, the adoption counsellor for WAG. After a short telephone interview, we arranged to go out and meet Ariel (as she was known then), have her meet Pete (our first companion) and continue the interview.
Claire told us about Aida's short life - she had been purchased from a local "breeder" as a pup and was to be a jogging companion. Apparently, the individual who purchased her did not care for jogging moved out and left the dog with the purchasers parents. Well, the parents did not want the dog either, and she was surrendered to WAG.
WAG then adopted her out to a family, and was old enough to be spayed. The family left her in the garage by herself all day, and when they could no longer take her barking and destruction, the family gave her to some random guy.
After random-guy left her chained to a telephone pole, WAG ended up with her again. They were able to track down the "owner" via her rabies tag, and he surrendered her legally to WAG.
Thus, homeless for the second time in her 8 month life, Aida came back to WAG to wait for someone else to take an interest in her. During this time, it was discovered that she was allergic to the suture material around her spaying incision, and she had to be treated.
And so, everything went well at Claire's and we took the dogs to the local agility park to meet one another. At first, Petey wasn't too sure. But she stuck to him like glue on glue! So, we all went back to Claire's, said good-bye and the waiting game began.
A few short days later, after looking at her description and picture online about a hundred times, we noticed that her page had been taken down. Because we had not heard from Claire, we assumed that Aida had been adopted by another family. We were disappointed but confident that a good home would be found for her.
The weekend came and went ...
The another week came and went...
...when the phone rang. It was Claire! At first I didn't recognize her, because I didn't know any Claires and had given up on Aida. But, she had checked our references and was calling to see if we were still interested in adopted the yellow labrador.
Oh, happy day! Yes! Yes!
And so, the following day we went to pick up our little poopit! She was just over 9 months old when we got her, and man oh man! What a character.
She promptly ate us out of house and home - ate the entire interior of a rental Jeep (ALWAYS GET INSURANCE!), ate the cat food, ate all of Petey's food (he was free-fed).
At first we wondered if we made a good decision - Petey would not let her within ten feet of him, for this was HIS house!
But..all is well that ends well and we are a happy little family. Aida and Petey are BEST friends and wouldn't have it any other way.
They have even been known to sleep together, heads resting assuredly upon one another's back.
