been anywhere from 30 to 90...talking about Extremes!
We did have 2 plus inches of badly needed rain this weekend.
Now we have mud in a lot of areas....We are thanking God!
Everything looks a 100% better. Lost a new born set of
twin calves last night. The yearling beef steers sold well.
We are very grateful....

Going to zoom around dogster and see what my pals have
been up too????? Huggies and Kissies to all my Pals,Mazy

THIEVES AND NEW MEXICO

[ Leave A Comment | 3 people already have ]

OMD!!!!!AG WEEK NEWS WIRE REPORTS...CALF STEALING...
WE found this in our AG paper and found the whole
Caper very strange.

New Mexico authorities have arrested three men found with a
220 pound calf in the backseat of their car. The Carlsbad
New Mexico current Argus reports that the men are accused of CATTLE RUSTLING.
They were jailed on charges of suspicion of larceny of livestock,
conspiracy, lack of bill of sale and exporting livestock. Luna
county sheriff's office says a deputy pulled over the Honda Civic
and saw the animal sharing the backseat with one of the alleged thieves.

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT???????? Gpa and Gma raise cattle.
This means they have stock cows and their crop to sell is the calves....
Now since both have had plenty of experience with trying to handle young calves....
They are scratching their heads??? A 220 pound calf
would be a good month old or older. They WOULD NOT quietly lay in
the seat of a car..... Hum????????? Did they drug said calf????????

If it was a dairy calf, the calf could have been used to regular
handling by a person.... But still, transporting in the back seat
of a car?????? Very strange!

One spring we had a blizzard in late April. The cows went with the storm.
When the storm was over, the cows knew where home was. The young calves did not....
They had to go a good mile from the barns
after plowing trails with tractors. Catch the calves,1 by 1.
Lay on them in the back of a pickup. Transport them back home.
An exhausting experience. A calf in snow up to its shoulders
can jump and run, when you are trying to grab it......
Calves are major kickers and can work you over real fast.

Still wondering what they medicated the calf with????
We'd like to ask Miss Coco Rose and Mr.Puff, if they know where this place is????
We'd like to say, Miss Coco and Mr. Puff....
KEEP PRACTICING ON YOUR BARKING ALERT SYSTEM....
Your new job will be protecting the home front.
Let's hope there are NO PUP Nappers in New Mexico????

Finally a nice soaking rain during the night.
Will reduce fire risks. This will help green up the pastures
and add moisture to the fields. We have some pretty large
standing puddles this morning. Everyone have a great weekend.

Catch ya later,Mazy

WHERE DOES MY TIME GO??????????

April 16th 2012 4:26 pm
[ Leave A Comment | 5 people already have ]

OMD! WHERE DOES MY TIME GO? Here it is the middle of April already... We FINALLY HAD A SOFT SOAKING RAIN THIS PAST FRIDAY. OVER A 1/2" AND IT WAS BADLY NEEDED... We've had sprinkles off and on ever since. The temperatures have been more wintery than spring like the past few days..... Ugh! I Hate that! Still too much harsh wind....
The weather has turned cold,damp,gloomy....We have a chance of rain everyday this week. We sure need it,as we continue to have harsh drying winds. Today's high was 37....I wore my heavier sweater out to potty ALL day long...I went out with Gpa after lunch for 45 minutes. I sucked it up and went without a sweater....I was sniffing and snooping in the hay yard. Nobody wants me to catch my sweater on the big hay bales. Be caught and not able to get out of the bales.
Sometimes, I want to sniff out all the holes and tunnels in the bale piles. Gophers didn't come out to play with me ...Too cold!

Gma gave the grooming works on Saturday. My peeps celebrated their 39th. wedding anniversary... I know my numbers 1,2,3,4 and 5..cuz, I'll be 5 in July. Boy, that time went by fast...Gma had to explain 39 to me. I just didn't know that number. She said, it was...the same as forever. Her and Gpa have been together their whole adult lives. Gpa gave Gma a card that was a FUNNY! Said, he knew right away, they'd fall in love, get married, have kids AND spend the rest of their lives DRIVING EACH OTHER CRAZY! He-He...I think, they do that really well!

Gma made them a peach pie. I was allowed to taste the cooked peaches. They were delish! Gma Hit the jackpot this past week. She was able to have her favorite SEAFOOD on Thursday,Saturday and Sunday.... She said, the BEST April ever! They ate out 2 of those days and this doesn't happen often.

Well, we've been doing the usual cleaning, laundry and cooking. I've spent all the time I can toasting in the HOT laundry. I helped clean up the cattle room, patio, outside furniture and steps. Our cottonwood trees are dropping the ugly stuff now. Making a Big mess all over the place. The cooler weather, the trees and bushes are not progressing with their leafing out. The perennials are still growing. The tulips and dwarfed irises are not budding yet.

Gma and I are babying the seeds, we planted in the house. They germinated well...Not sure, they will make viable plants for outside.
Maybe, we have wasted our time and money trying to avoid buying greenhouse plants??????? The greenhouse will like a failure on our part.

Since the weather has taken a real chill.... working on the future vegetable garden is at a stand still. We need to spray for buggies around the car garage and exterior of the house. Hope to have a day to do that this week. I have to supervise from inside. I can't go out until the spray is dry. Sure helps knock the bugs back around the house. Our barns are just too close to the house. Due to the house being built in the 40's. We are calving now. Several new moos everyday. Saturday we had to put a calf on the bottle. We think it is a twin?

Gma and I are still playing toys in the evenings. Then snuggling in a warm blanket while she reads her spy mysteries. Everyday,I'm still busy designing new window artwork. I'm very talented with my nose...
Well, I'd better run....time to start supper. The oven beeped...so I can now toast in my bed in the kitchen.... It's Suppertime!
Have a Great week pals....Sending tons of hugs your way. Mazy

I SLEPT LATE THIS MORNING. IT WAS 20 last night,47 sun and windy today.
I awoke to find out after my PAWSOME EASTER, that I am
the ROYAL MEMBER OF THE DAY FOR PD&PC GROUP. WOWZER! What a
surprise and a honor. I put the pretty PD&PC picture on my page.
Thank you Princess Diva and Prince Charming for the picture
and my beautiful crown.

I had a PAWTASTIC EASTER! The indoors picnic was so much FUN!
I had 1/2 of a cheeseburger....I've Never had cheeseburger!
Of course, I cleaned my plate. I also has a bite of cake that was made for
fresh strawberries and whip cream. This was super-duper delish!

The eggs were hidden indoors for the grand kids. It was cold and windy outside.
Each had 30 to find....Keeping things fair by assigning certain colors to each child.
They also each had 1 large egg.
This was their BIG PRIZE egg. 1 was silver and 1 was gold.
They had a coupon in there to be able to go to the capitol city
of Bismarck and see a movie. Also filled with quarters to buy
treats at the movies.

I helped the kids HUNT their eggs. NO EGGS with my name??? Gma took
3 eggs and filled with my treats. Theirs had candies in them....
I found all 3 of my eggs. I'd stop after each find...pop the egg open,
ate my treat and then LOOK again. I don't know why I had only 3 and they had 31 each????????

We PLAYED A CARD GAME CALLED BINGO AND A DICE GAME CALLED FARKLE.
I laid on Gma's lap and helped her play... The kids play Extreme sports on the WII thingy, too.

We had TURKEY breast for supper. It was done in a BIG EASY,infra red deep fryer
unit out on the patio. No oil... It was delish!
They had German dressing, buns and corn. More dishes....My Gma and Gpa were
POOPED OUT when the kiddies went home at 8 p.m.

I'd better run...I have tons of p-mails to answer....
Today the PRINCESS OF THE PONDEROSA is reigning
at PD & PC group...
Hugs and Kisses,Mazy

What's Up Here On The Prairie

April 1st 2012 12:29 pm
[ Leave A Comment | 3 people already have ]

Suppose make 79 today. The sun is shining brightly! The Gusts of 30 mph wind is creating a gritty sandy day. Not nice for hunting,as all the dirt would end up in my peepers. Being as low to the ground,
as I am.
Gma found 1 spot with a little wind break for going potty. The north side of the house yard. I RAN out and right back in....IT'S UCKY out there! Even my gophers will stay inside. Glad the wind is from the south. Gma and I washed some windows yesterday. They weren't the 3 south ones. It was a long day of spring type cleaning. Even watering perennials, because it is so dry. Finished Friday and Saturday evening by cooking supper on the grill. I love my meatz on the grill...Grilling saves alot of extra dishes in the house. We eat late
sometimes it is even 9 p.m.

Gpa had to go the Vet. A heifer had big trouble....Couldn't have her baby. Gpa thought the calf was backwards or upside down. Hope they turned the calf and didn't need a C-section. Those are pricey...

We do have a couple baby moos already....We just started calving.
Gpa had to put his 5 gallon grain buckets away. The wind was blowing them all over the ranch yard. Yep, he still carries grain to the cattle. Most drive down in front of the feed bunks with fancy new stuff that dumps the grain....Gpa is too old to buy fancy new stuff,so we do alot of things the old way.

Seeds Gma planted in the house for garden came up. Now she has to thin them. The seeds on the cauliflower, broccoli and cabbage were so small..There wasn't anyway to put just 2 seeds into 1 little pot. Peppers and tomatoes are coming up now. They are deciding how large of an area to mark off. Gpa's job is to get the soil ready for Gma. She can't shovel much, her bad shoulder, won't take it. We raked up more sticks and leaves.

Gma and I have been doing a few pictures. We had to delete some pics out of my page. Boy what a pain, 1 picture at a time. I think, we need a multiple delete feature added to dogster. Takes a long time,
1 pic at a click....

We are doing odds and ends today. Re-grouping before we take on more windows, blinds and all the other messes that makes. Just found out this morning the grand-kids and their Momma will be here on Easter.
We thought it was just Gpa,Gma and us furs....

Going to grill burgers and dogs. Do salads, fruit and something baked.
We want to spend our time with Easter Egg Hunt. I hunted with the kids last year and it was super fun! We play games.... We like our holidays simple....I guess, Gma and I better decide what kind of stuff we are baking this week???????

I hear the dryer buzzer calling us...HOT laundry here I come!
Catch ya later, mazy

GOOFING OFF......

March 29th 2012 3:27 pm
[ Leave A Comment | 3 people already have ]

There are always CHORES to do.... We did some after SLEEPING in
late. Gma was Super Pooped after local errands,my routine Vet care and a supply run to Bismarck last night. did help Gpa snored the house down.....Not me, I was quiet as a mouse!

Of course, as a doxie.....I'll Sleep In, if someone sleeps with me. I love to stayed snuggled in the warm bed. Our mornings are still chilly. Woke up to heavy clouds and no sun but 40's.
By late morning Gpa and I went out on the prairie. The Gophers are finally out! Gpa saw them, but I didn't spy them on the run...I could
Smell them...So, I found some holes and dug awhile. Enjoyed my hour
snooping and sniffing. Ate a little prairie sand.......

We had a late lunch and I grabbed a quick nap. Gma snuck up on me and we did the usually grooming. I was Good and the Treats were Great.
We've been out in the front yard and sat in the warm sunshine. Made
60 with sunshine this afternoon. The darn wind didn't blow today.
Yippy! Made for a real nice day.....

Gma and I dug in our picture files. Took a stab at making Easter pictures for our furmily. We hope our pals will take a peek?????
We spent 2 hours making some pics and putting them up. Angel Foxie and Angel Baby have pictures too. Gma will make Precious some on another day.

Since Summer doesn't start until around June 21st., we have lots of time to try and make spring pictures. Easter is just around the corner.... Our perennials coming up. The tulips and irises have been up the longest.

Gma bought some annual flower seeds and 2 more greenhouse starter boxes. So we are going to plant, snap dragons, petunias, pansies and marigolds. Use them as filler flowers around our perennials.
Suppose to be nice this weekend,so I heard she plans to start
washing windows. I try to keep several washed on a daily basis.
Gma seems to think both side need washing on every window. They
look okay to me....

So for us, today was a goof off and regroup day. Gma is still
having some energy issues since she had the flu. Well pals, this is all I know. Going to do Zoomies around dogster and see what my pals
have been doing... Some doggie fleas have made zooming difficult this past week.

I'd better get to it....suppertime is soon....I Hope all my pals had a Pawsome Spring Day!
Catch ya later, Mazy

BTW-Does any pal know? Is there a secret to being able to keep your margins equal when writing in your diary???? Ours always turns out so WEIRD????????????????

Wednesday We Worked Outside And Wore Ourselves Out!

March 24th 2012 4:46 pm
[ Leave A Comment | 3 people already have ]

We race around the house in the morning, doing food prep for meals.
Making our bed, dishes, picking up the house and all the pet chores.
We sat for 15 minutes...a quick tossed veggie salad for Gma. I had my
chicken brown rice kibbles with burger topping.

Off we went.....Dragging with Us, hot pails of water. A box filled with glass, leather, vinyl cleaners. Turtle wax car soap in the buckets. Rags, carwash fuzzy mitts, old towels and paper towels. Several garden hoses and our new fancy spray nozzle......A dirt devil hand vacuum.

Sunshine and about 70... A little breeze and I thought, I was chilly! I was also Bored supervising the major inside and outside car clean up! We scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed some more.......
Gma was washing away, looks over her shoulder to see what I am doing?

I decided to crawl into the cardboard box with the old towels for drying the car. NOW I WAS COMFY!!!!!!!!! 3 1/2 hrs. later....she is Finally satisfied with the CAR....Did I ever tell you Pals, my Gma is OCD!!!! We could have eaten dinner off the car bumper!!!!! I swear, I saw my snout, in the wheels of the Impala!

CAR was done......Okie Dokie... Is Gma Ready to go in??????? What NO! Now what?? The CAR is Clean and the garage is DIRTY! Yep, left car sit outside......Now, we were sweeping and cleaning the garage... Throwing a cloud of dusty dirt everywhere! Man it was BAD! So, I begged to go to the Sunroom.....Took a Nap! Then Cried to come out, cuz, Gma was still outside....

Garage was clean. (Wasn't the nightmare of last year. Gma put her foot down about Gpa leaving the doors open.) We hauled all the patio furniture out of the garage and to the patio. This was after we had cleaned the patio, the back steps that are carpeted, so my peeps won't fall. Gma had 1 bucket of turtle wax soap still left. She doesn't waste, Nothin' Honey! She washed the patio furniture with it. Thinking maybe, the wax in there, will help keep the furniture clean. The sap resin from the cottonwood trees is so tough, to clean off the glass and metal frames.

Wag,wag, wagging my tail! Are we done,NOW?????? NOPE! What else??????? We scrubbed the cattle room and the storm doors. The perennials are coming up... They were really dry. Yep, we had to water all the flowerbeds in the whole yard..... I went off to play with a kitten that I became friends with. Then she scrubbed the gas grill and the grill cover.....Cleaned up all the supplies and side messes...

7 1/2 hours later.... Gpa has come home from hauling Oats(2 big loads) Gma and Gpa had a cocktail and sat on the patio furniture for 30 minutes. It was cooling off, so I burrowed into a light jacket Gma had on... 8p.m. ..... We drag our butts to the house! Gma throws some sausage in the electric skillet and has Gpa watch it. She runs and takes a quick scrubbie dubbie in the tubbie... I ate my supper, crawled under my blanket in my bed....Snuggled into the plushness. OMD! I was so Tired!!!!!!!!!! It was a 2 Cookie Day for ME!!!!

Gma and I hadn't spent that much time outside in 1 day since last fall. When we were chasing leaves, several days a week...Almost all day long! She says, it will only get busier from here on....
What's this vegetable garden thingy..she is crowing about???????
Another story for another day....OMD! It's suppertime for me!
Yippy! Catch ya later, Mazy

Sharing Jerky Information....4 Peeps and Pups

March 24th 2012 3:58 pm
[ Leave A Comment | 3 people already have ]

1st. I must say, I'm still munching away on my cookies, Gma made me! In fact, I will turn a SNOUT on the commerical treats and take the homemade 1st! NO NASTY extra chemicals in them....Made in your own kitchen!!!! In fact, Gma froze 2/3 the batch!!!! Cuz, I'd EAT,EAT,EAT
them and leave my KIBBLES! BOY! Can I put on a SHOW of ALL my TRICKS and STUNTS to get ONE of those COOKIES out of GMA!
I yodel,dance,spin,roll over,speak,stay,paw me please,lay down,crawl
and sit up..... CAN you believe it???? They are 10 STARS for me to go
through that pup and pony show...just for MY Cookie!

NOW... SEVERAL PEEPS HAVE ASK ABOUT THE JERKY MAKING FOR THE PEEPS...
CAN MAKE JERKY FOR THE PUPS TOO! WE WILL PROVIDE THE INFORMATION HERE FOR WHAT PRODUCTS WE USE AND WHERE TO FIND THEM. (We just found out recently that you can buy seasonings for PUP jerky) Of course in this house my jerky is made from the same meats as my PEEPS!They will not feed me garbage meat.....www.nesco.com

Gma has been using NESCO American Harvest Products for years. Our dehydrator comes from them. It is a FD-75PR Snackmaster Pro 700 Watt Unit. Right now it happens to be on sale and you will save. Less costly buying direct from company than in a retail store. Comes with 5 trays and can be expanded to 12 trays. (If you can't invest in a dehydrator you can use your oven on its lowest setting 160-170 range. You will have a little more shrinkage in meats)Will have to turn them a couple times.

We make most jerky with ground meat. You can used sliced meats. Depends on what you like the best. We also use their seasonings and salt cure. The cost is cheaper than using your own spices,salt,etc...
There are a variety of flavors for your peeps. The company now sells flavorings for PUP jerky....minus the nasty salt, onion and stuff ...Us FURS shouldn't have.

Long time ago we started with a 1lb. jerky gun... Draw back was how often you had to load the meat. This winter we found out they now make a 2.5lb. jerky gun....YIPPY!!!!!!! Goes a long WAYS before gun is empty. This is a BJX-12P Large Jerky Kit and comes with 12 spices/cure packets. So you are able to find out what you like the best. This is currently on sale for less than the small gun. The seasonings that come with will make 12 lbs. of jerky for your Daddy, Mommy and human siblings. All the instructions you need for this project come inside your box of seasonings. The jerky gun has 3 tips,a wide strip, double narrow strips and a round one for Slim Jim Jerky.

We mix about 6 lbs. of meat at one time. Leave it sit in our fridge for 24-48 hrs. Seasonings have a chance to work into the meat....
Pump onto dehydrator and dry for 4-6 hrs. depending on how much moisture is in the meat. We keep a bag of jerky in the fridge for high protein, low calorie snacks. We store our extra jerky
in the freezer. It will keep over a year frozen. You can make it 1 lb. at a time, if that is what you want to do. A 5 rack dehydrator will make 3 lbs. at a time. Unit can be expanded...holding up to 12 racks. How full your unit is will effect the drying time.

We must say, we haven't tried the pup seasonings from Nesco yet. We were just winging it for Mazy. A couple splashes light soy sauce and a little molasses mixed into ground venison.

There is another company that we use their seasoning called
HI MOUNTAIN JERKY,INC. www.himtnjerky.com. They sell seasonings in small or large quantities. Also other products like smokers, sausage stuffers and dry spice meat rub mixes.

Making jerky for PUPS or PEOPLE is EASY,Quick and Cheap! Our daughter tells us, 1 big strip of jerky in the store is $1.80 and up.....
Our grandson snacks on jerky all the time. Way better than ALL the EXTRA sugary stuff he was eating...He started last year in 4-H making jerky... Now they make it all the time......Gma also makes for them. They invested in a dehydrator too...(You can dry all kinds of fruit in your dehydrator)Mazy likes dried apple slices....

The seasonings of both of these companies are available here in our Walmart and grocery stores. So check in your stores to see if the spices are carried where you live. Bought my 1st. jerky gun in Walmart 13 years ago. When our kids were young, I did the sliced meat jerky. You must cut if half frozen to cut the meat thin....
When we butchered I packaged meat for jerky making. Now we just make the jerky with ground meat. You can use any kind of ground meat or combo of meats for jerky.

We Hope we have provided you all the information you will need.
Everything is so Expensive.... it's Time we go back to doing alot
of these things ourselves. Parents and Grandparents make a family project out of this. Kids enjoy helping...Any questions? P-mail Mazy and she will try to answer them for you.

Grandson's Wrestling

March 22nd 2012 2:41 pm
[ Leave A Comment | 1 person already has ]

HEY PALS-I found Gma and Gpa's report on Grandson's wrestling ssssoooo FUNNY...I just have to share what they said.....I'm glad I stayed HOME! I would have been in a FRENZY due to all that CHOAS and NOISE!!!!!!!

HERE'S WHAT GMA SAID, IN A NUTSHELL this was the 1st. wrestling match either of them ever saw with young kids......... Age 5 to 12 years old. Jaxcen is age 7, this is his 2nd. year. He won 3 medals last year.

GMA'S OUT THERE..........Take Ear plugs, when going to preschool thru 6 grade Wrestling! 1st. time Gma every PAID for a Headache! The funds buy the medals. Gma had to order a bunch of Pizzas from Jax's.....
(Wrestling Boosters Project for awards...cost her some more bucks!)

Gpa thought it was like a BEE HIVE(Gma said, maybe on Steroids?) She thought it was more like Planet of the Apes! In all sizes shapes weights....arms,legs,butts,etc... flying everywhere. FLYING MONKEYS!

Jaxcen took 2nd.place for his weight class, in the 7 yr. olds. This is his 2nd. yr. out ....Each boy wrestled 3 times, 2 minute matches.
He was given a 2nd. place medal and a certificate. Everyone receives a participation medal.

EAR PLUGS TRULY GO WITH... THE NEXT TIME! About 5 schools...no idea how many extra kids, all the wrestlers, their families....... of course wrestling FANS!!!!!OMD! You do what ya gotta do, as a grandparent...It was entertaining, except for the NOISE!!!!!!!

They drove 70 miles to pay for headaches, burnt high cost fuel, raced home,so Gpa could get to his township board meeting. Gma medicated the headache and limped around the rest of the evening.....
This would have Drove most of you NUTZ-O!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She wouldn't let me Squeak my Toys! I don't think, I like the Wrestling business...Gma says, Jax's is sticking with it....

We're sure glad, Gma can't make it to the meet with 500 kids wrestling in western North Dakota! The event starts early in a morning and goes until evening.....Yardwork will be peaceful in comparison.....I CAN HONK my toys that night!
Catch ya later,Mazy
