Oscar,

Never would I have thought that I'd be growing up with a wise old man like you to guide me. You came into my life when I was a high school student, trying hard to fit in and find my way. You were with me all through 4-H as I grew and even pretended to like dog shows and obedience classes just so that you could watch over me. We shared many sad times, like when you decieded to teach me a lesson about true love when you ran away for over 2 weeks... but man, the happiness I felt when you came back home to me! You never would let the tears set on my cheeks long and always seemed to make me laugh with your silly dachshund ways. Each and every difficult life lesson Oscar, you were there with me. Now, at the age of 20 years old you are still my best dog friend. I will always remember the day that you and I, with all our things packed up for college, headed North to Gainesville to begin school at UF. You slept in the back window but Momma trusted me under your guidance. Now, I have found a good man that you trust to take care of me but never do I forget my best bud. I even bought you a puppy to play with to keep you young and on your toes! :) Oscar, I am looking forward to many more milestones with you there by my side... or at least the foot of my bed. I know soon I will ask a lot of you. To be my ring-dog at my wedding, to move to our new home, and to protect our growing dog family with your love and guidance. To you, I promise to always love and care for you, and feed you first!
