A Day In the Life of the Fizzy
Another UpdateAugust 14th 2010 11:20 am[ Leave A Comment | 14 people already have ]
I talked to the vet, and they ruled out giardia. Fizzy is still "dopey" (as she called it) but she thinks he's depressed. That about crushed my soul when she told me that. They're not going to try to feed him until late afternoon, early evening. He's not coming home tonight (another soul crushing piece of information for me) because she wants to do an ultrasound to completely rule out pancreatitis. She said the blood results came back negative for that, but since he's a schnauzer she REALLY wants to make sure that that's not what it is. For my non-schnauzer friends, schnauzers are very prone to pancreatitis. She told me 4 out of 10 animals with it are schnauzers. Yikes. Animals, mind you, not just dogs.

Sounds like you still need to get some rest. I know what you mean about the barking. As much as we complain and try to get them to be quiet, the house is Too quiet when they aren't there. Still sending hugs and love your way. I googled! What does HGE stand for? HGE (at least in terms of veterinary medicine) stands for Hemorrhagic GastroEnteritis, and it is a disease of dogs. What are the signs seen with HGE in dogs? The most notable sign seen with HGE is a very sudden onset of bloody diarrhea in a previously healthy dog. Vomiting, not eating (anorexia), and listlessness are also seen. Dehydration is not usually clinically seen on initial presentation, but shock can develop quickly without treatment. LOL, Drover, I think you found the same exact website I found!!! After I posted Fizzy's diary I googled it (I probably should have googled it first, but, you know, a tired brain doesn't always work properly!!) and that's word for word what it said!! I'm thinking this is what's going on, as the bloody pooh just...CAME. He was fine and then he pooped blood and I was running around the yard screaming like an idiot. Good thing the neighbors already know I'm nuts!!! Fizzy's Mom...this is Lucy's Mama... Yor extended Dogster family is here for you whenever you feel you need to talk. Thanks for letting us know how Fizzy is doing. I think the vet will totally understand that you can't even remember her name. We'll keep Fizzy and the rest of the family in our prayers. (((hugs))) Lucy here...MWAH! *slurp* a kiss from me to Fizzy! tell him we're praying for him! All Mama's are crazy Mrs. Fizzy's Mom... You're just concerned 'bout him. And to us here on dogster is totally normal! it sure sounds like HGE; we have all paws crossed for Fizzy's (and his mom's) wellbeing. hate seeing any of them in distress. xoxo This is Doo and Austin's mom...Thanks so much for updating us. I sure hope they can find out what is causing all this. Hmm, wonder what would make him depressed. (I know my other Weimaraners I've had, would ignore me when I would come home from a vacation.) Always know that your Dogster pals are right there "with you" in the back yard yelling like a crazee woman or missing the babies when they're not home. (I won't even go on vacation any more because I really don't like being away from THEM! LOL) We're always here for you and know you can always vent, scream, rant and rave or come to us for a shoulder to cry on anytime day or night. Dogster people are the bestest! Sending BIG Texas hugs and prayers to Mr. Fizzy and Mr & Mrs Fizzy's Pawrents! Love, Doo, Austin & mom Lou Ann OMD! Sure sounds like your poor Fizzy needs to be in the doggy hospital. Best place right now. Sounds like it more than likely is that HGE. Pawyering that the right diagnoses and treatment can...and will be found. Scary stuff, that's for sure. You need to find a quiet place to regroup, relax and get your head out of spin mode. Too much stress is so hard on anyone, let alone someone who is feeling all the wrenching things that come with a loved one (Fizzy), being gravely ill. Pawyering fur your well being, too. Here is a huge cyber hug...((((((((((Fizzy))))))))))!! If all of us Dogster peeps could, we would have a huge group HUG! But these cyber ones will still let you know that we care, worry and join in with all that you are going through. Take care! Hugs! Woofs! Here's some more POWer of the Paw for Fizzy to get better soon! If he is depressed it's cause he's missing you!! Keep the updates coming! HD's mom here! We all can totally understand what you are going through and everyone before has said it all. Know that you are not alone and we are all her for you. HD had pancreatitis when he was just one years old and I was absolutely beside myself. Sending lots and lots of POP for Fizzy and you and know we are here for you!
