Ruger is fully recovered now, getting around very well, and has even decided that life as a couch potato cannot be topped! As he’s gained his confidence back, he has become more playful and fun-loving, but he still prefers a cushy place to hang out and belly rubs over almost anything. He loves to run in very short spurts and go for walks but still tires out quickly. All in all, it makes him a fairly low maintenance dog!
Ruger has gained lots of new muscles and gotten into good shape to help him compensate for the missing leg. He has become more sure of himself and does very well anywhere he can get good traction. Carpet or nonslip rugs are a must for him because he slips easily on slick floors. He has no trouble going up and down steps to go outside.
Everyone who meets Ruger, falls instantly in love with him. This boy has the best demeanor and most expressive face you could want. Don’t you want to meet him?

8/24/2009- Ruger is now walking some and falling down a little less. It will be a while before he is running with all the other pups. He is a great dog. Easy going and just happy to be here. & We are very happy to have him. Please help us raise funs to pay for his leg Amputation. Ruger would give you a thank you kiss if you bend close enough to the screen.

He is not quite 2 yrs old yet, he is a BIG boy
Very gentle, great with kids/other dogs (seems submissive)
Energy level is right in the middle, he isn't very hyper but does like to play
Seems very smart and eager to please
He is kind of anxious right now because he can't walk well, and falls a lot... but he seems like a calmer dog, not much bothered him when I was at the house visiting him!!
We don't know how he is with cats or small dogs yet
