My heart has been giving me problems for awhile and at the beginning of the year, mom started to give me some pills to help my heart work better. It worked for awhile and I was feeling great!
After several months, I started to cough and we went to the dogtor again. They checked my lungs and kidneys and blood and told mom my lungs had water in them. Mom was given another pill to make me tee-tee more and I did great for several more months.
Lately though, it seemed like the meds had to be increased and it was fine for a week, then it would get worse again; mom was told the dogtor could not increase the dosage as I was at the top.
So, last Monday, my husis took me to the dogtor again who wanted to refer me to a cardiologist and give me viagra because she thought I also had pulmonary hypertension. The new x-rays showed that my heart was huge and crushing the trachea and that was why I was coughing constantly and drinking water.
The dogtor gave me cough suppressant and wanted to try that for a couple of days. Mom got annoyed and told them that the cough suppressant would not make my heart smaller and pump less, it would just mask part of the problem. As for the viagra, mom asked if it really would make a difference and the answer was: "We don't really know".
This morning, when my husis wanted to give me my pills and my breakfast, I refused all food and meds and mom said it was my sign that I wanted to go. Then I had some bloody diarrhea and I threw up so she decided to end stop messing with the dogtor's trial and error thing.
Sabrina took me to another vet mom sees with us and she took to him. I usually hate the vet, but this time, I was wagging my tail and I was so happy when we got in the office! My husis couldn't believe it. I knew I would feel better very shortly and I would be pain free.
Before I left, I gave mom licks and kisses and she hugged me and kissed me and held me close to her heart. She had to get another baby from another vet asap. She had a hard time to put me in the car, but I didn't look back. It was time... I was almost 17 years old!
I crossed the Bridge peacefully in my sister's arms at noon today and I am not free of pain, free to run, free of the cough and the chocking. I will be running in the flower fields with my siblings and pals until mom joins us.
I love you mom, I love you Sabrina,
