The Himalayan Corporation has initiated a voluntary recall on Ruff Roots products sold by Petsmart “due the amount of metal on them,” according to the company. The affected products were only sold through PetSmart, and the company maintains that “all other Ruff Roots are of quality standard and are not part of the recall.”
The Ruff Roots products in the recall include:
It’s not clear how metal got into the dog toys, which originate from the roots of shrubs or trees in the Mediterranean Heathlands, according to the company. “Unlike sticks or furniture wood, Ruff Roots do not splinter. They serve as a natural toothbrush and help decrease plaque on teeth as well.”
The Himalayan Corporation also produces dog chews made of Himalayan hard cheese, sourced by a consortium of 3,000 farmers in the Himalayas. The company has additionally been involved in helping the victims, both human and canine, of the earthquake in Nepal, evidenced by its Facebook page.
If you’ve purchased one of these products, you may return it to PetSmart for a refund. If you have any questions, call the Himalayan Corporation at 425-322-4295 or email contactinfo@himalayandogchew.com.
