Jonnie Paws and Carol Claws have pulled aside the veil and let the rest of us peak into the daily lives, adventures and trials of one cat, Willi Whizkas, and his assorted neighborhood friends in this gentle book, Willi Whizkas: Tall Tales and Lost Lives.
As I read through Willi Whizkas I was reminded of the writings of Beatrix Potter and other gentle animal fictions such as The Wind in the Willows. The writing is lively and suitable for older children through adults. There is nothing childish here; the writing is adult enough to keep everyone’s interest.
Don’t expect car crashes, dinosaurs chasing teenagers or even a few wizards. Willi Whizkas: Tall Tales and Lost Lives is simple, old fashioned story telling that lets us all vicariously live the life of a British cat, pure and simple. And that’s enough for this sweet, engaging book.
I would definitely recommend this book as summer reading for anyone, adult or child over the age of maybe 9 or so.
