In doing research for my upcoming book, Soldier Dogs: The Untold Story of America’s Canine Heroes, I got to spend time with some pretty amazing military working dog teams. Most have their boots firmly planted on the ground when not flying from one place to another on planes or helicopters.

But here’s a team that defies the odds: The handler has no legs. Oh, and he and his dog jump out of a plane. And the dog, a Belgian Malinois, looks like he’s enjoying every minute of it. Check him out after the jump. If he could talk, he’d say, “Let’s do it again!!!” These dogs are really a breed apart.

There’s a reason the Department of Defense’s military working dog breeding program is using only Malinoises. (This dog’s handler is a breed apart, I’d say. What an inspiration he is to not let problems get in the way of living.)

As for the bond between this dog and handler, it’s clearly super strong, as it is with most dogs and military handlers. If you can’t tell by watching the video, check out what his handler wrote in a YouTube comment: “My boy goes EVERY WHERE with me! lol! He rode in my side car on my 2000 Road king from NC to NY, and from NC to MO!” These two sure have fun together. What a team.
