Grab a Kleenex before you watch the above video. If it stirs your ire, and you’re looking for something to do on Valentine’s weekend (Saturday, actually) that involves love but not romance, check out the info in the press release below:

From a Companion Animal Protection Society (CAPS) press release:

After celebrating the ordinance banning the sale of cats and dogs in pet stores of West Hollywood, the Companion Animal Protection Society (CAPS) is taking the anti puppy mill message further west, conducting a peaceful Valentine march against Barkworks.

Barkworks, a chain of pet stores, has been defrauding consumers and selling sick dogs. Ongoing CAPS investigations have uncovered that Barkworks is supplied by puppy mills in the Midwest where dogs are sick, are confined 24/7 in rabbit hutches, are exposed to extreme temperatures, and are living in their own waste.

The USDA inspection reports for Barkworks’ suppliers show violations of the Animal Welfare Act. CAPS has evidence (see video) that Barkworks withheld emergency veterinary care to a dying puppy in the store and sold a fatally ill puppy to a consumer.

Where: Barkworks, Westside Pavilion 3rd Floor,10800 West Pico BLVD #391 Los Angeles, CA 90064

When: Saturday, February 13, at 1:30 PM

Meet-up for interviews after march, at 2:45 PM at Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf 10897 W Pico Blvd Los Angeles, CA 90064
