Dog breeder pleads guilty, agrees to never sell dogs again
GALLATIN, Tenn. A Gallatin woman has pleaded guilty to charges of animal cruelty and agreed to a lifetime ban on breeding after authorities pulled hundreds of puppies from unsanitary conditions at her home.
In a plea deal approved yesterday, 69-year-old Irene Meuser entered guilty pleas to four charges of animal cruelty. As part of the bargain, Meuser also agreed never to breed animals or own dogs for sale again.
Under terms of her deal with prosecutors, the first 50 people who adopt the pets will pay an additional 100 dollars to help support Meuser now that her breeding business is shut down and she gets by on Social Security.
