Tips for Staying at a Hotel with Your Dog

Before arriving confirm the hotel allows pets. I think the simplest thing to do is call and ask. There shouldn’t be any extra cost if the hotel is pet friendly. Personally, I would let the clerk know that I had a dog at check-in. I wouldn’t try to hide the dog at a hotel that doesn’t allow pets, as you could be asked to leave (probably with no refund), which would be a huge inconvenience, I’m sure. If your hotel is pet friendly, just make sure to take your dog out for walks often, since he may be disoriented from being in an unfamiliar place. I would also crate him if you’re going to be leaving him in the room alone. In addition to the fact that he might be scared, he might take out any anxiety by chewing, peeing, etc. I’ve never had any problems staying in a hotel with my dog, but Shinji is a really easy-going, adaptable dog. He went out to potty as normal, slept as normal, and all was well.
