Reflections On The MileHiCon

Pete

Thanks to all of you who’ve written in asking how the trip to Colorado went! It was a blast and I met many interesting, delightful humans and dogs!

The book signing in Nederland was in the delightfully cozy Old Town Books! Here’s a big bark out to owner Kimba and all the fun folks (human and canine) who showed up to chat! Check out Pete in the picture to the left. Pete and his human Jim are serious outdoors aficionados. They canoe and hike all over North America! BTW, Kimba still has a few signed copies of Haint if you happen to be up her way.

Sandy and Pepper

Of course, what is a trip to the mountains of Colorado during fall without a little snow? I thought we would escape but no, I woke up my last morning in Nederland to about 2 feet of snow! Wow! Check out this picture to the right of Sandy Schwayder Sanchez (author of a number of fascinating works including Stillbird and The Nun) with her constant companion, Pepper. Sandy, Pepper and Sandy’s sweet husband Ed were my hosts in Ned.

Amazingly, we were able to get down out of Ned into Denver for MileHiCon that same day. (Okay, I know you snow bunnies and puppies are probably laughing at me right now for being such a snow wuss.)

MileHiCon was fun and I met some wonderful writers such as Robert. J. Sawyer (writer of many books such as The Neaderthal Trilogy)and Connie Willis (writer of numerous books such as Doomsday Book and who has a new bulldog puppy, Smudge). My apologies to all the writers and artists I met there for not sharing all their names here.

If you’re in Denver and looking for a signed copy of Haint, please visit Nina and Ron at Who Else? Books! They have a few copies and many, many other books as well! Good thing I brought an extra suitcase just for carrying back books I bought at MileHi Con.

Lastly, thanks to Rose Beteem and her team for a seamless Con experience! I look forward to seeing Denver again this time next year!
