Read How A Cop Became A Pet Detective
I just finished The Lost Pet Chronicles and wow! Did I ever learn a lot! If you’re into dogs, real life cop stuff, dog memoirs or just interesting twists and turns of fate, this is your book! Kat Albrecht with co-author Jana Murphy have written a book that documents Albrecht’s evolution from a cop into the founder of and driving force behind the Missing Pet Partnership and Pethunters International.
The Lost Pet Chronicles does not gloss over anything. Every step and mis-step is included from Albrecht’s beginnings on what turns out to be the wrong police force, the scary day that her beloved Bloodhound got lost and the thrill of seeing him returned by none other than her marvelous cadaver-hunting Weimaraner, Rachel, through the personal misfortunes she encountered on the way. Not all of the pet searches end with happy reunions. But even those incidences are handled well in the book as lessons on how not to search for pets.
This would be a great book for anyone interested in dogs but especially for those people who are interested in search and rescue dogs. It would also be a good read for those who like real stories of real people working towards their dreams. Albrecht might not have always found her “pet,” but her book definitely hits the mark!
BTW, Next month I’ll be running an interview I did with Albrecht. In the meantime, check out her site and The Lost Pet Chronicles!
