Suspect Found In Abuse Case
Tia’s Savannah Sky reported to President Isabel’s Animal Abuse Commission that there has been a suspect charged in the recent abuse of a puppy in southwestern Michigan. The report came from WSBT.
Police have a suspect in the case of a puppy that was thrown off a bridge.
Rescuers named the 5-month-old dog Lucky. The terrier mix suffered eight broken bones and a terrifying fall when police say someone threw her over the Thomson Road bridge in Cass County.
Two boys found the dog in a rocky ravine last week and turned her over to Animal Aid of Southwestern Michigan.
Investigators believe the suspect stole the dog from its owners. Officials with Animal Aid say they’re seeking criminal charges against the suspect.
People who will abuse an animal are also people who then abuse children and are in domestic violence situations,” said Sue Burkhard, who works for the organization.
The Cass County Prosecutor is looking into the case. The suspect could face felony animal cruelty charges.
The original owners of the dog say they can’t care for her, so Animal Aid is working to find her a new home.
