What weighs four pounds, flies across the Pacific, and then surfs on it? That would be Bobby Gorgeous, a fearless Pomeranian who was the smallest competitor in the Loews Coronado Bay Resort Surf Dog Competition in San Diego this weekend. He came all the way from Hawaii to compete
Bobby Gorgeous was among the 65 canine competitors in this fundrasier for the San Diego Police Department’s Canine Unit. It’s one of several doggy surf competitons in Southern California.
Betsy, and English bulldog, had a better body for surfing. She’s short and wide and heavy — perfect for withstanding the waves. Her technique, however, isn’t one that most human surfers aspire to.
“She loves to bite the waves and loves the water,” her owner, Nicole Tallent, told ABC news.
“She just stands there, she doesn’t fall off and she rides all the way to the shore. We do it for charity. And it’s a riot. People love to see bulldogs surf.”
