Article Launched: 10/13/2007SAN FRANCISCOA Bay Area man is suing a South San Francisco police sergeant, accusing the officer of wrongfully shooting and killing his dog.
In a civil rights lawsuit filed in San Francisco federal court, 28-year-old Ray Halteh says Sergeant Mike Remedios overreacted in the September 2006 incident.
Halteh says his dog was being aggressive but playful when it started grappling with the officer’s dog.
The lawsuit says Halteh separated the dogs and no one was in immediate danger when the sergeant ordered him to “step aside” and then shot his dog.
