Sumter Co. men plead guilty to dog fighting and drug charges

Columbia-AP) September 21, 2006 – The state attorney general’s office says a Sumter County man has been sentenced to 13 years in prison after pleading guilty to 18 counts of dog fighting.

Attorney General Henry McMaster says Cedric Tory Smith also pleaded guilty Monday to cocaine trafficking and marijuana possession.

A man living at the same residence as Smith, Robert Lawrence Bostic, was sentenced to ten years after pleading guilty to similar drug charges.

In 2004, Sumter County deputies found 18 pit bull dogs that had been trained and used in dog fighting at the men’s residence, as well as treadmills and performance-enhancing drugs.
