Don’t worry, I’m not talking about Rainbow Bridge, this Bridge is a terrific organization helping teens and families. They’re having a fundraiser in Dunwoody, GA on June 28th which will include a 1K Dog Walk.
About The Bridge:
Since 1970 The Bridge has been dedicated to supporting teens and families who have experienced intense abuse and neglect. It is our mission to improve the quality of life and social functioning of Georgia’s troubled and abused adolescents by providing innovative community based and family focused therapeutic services, specialized education and residential care. We provide therapeutic, residential and educational services to teens in Georgia.
To accomplish this mission The Bridge will:
– Provide effective and outcome-driven services that are relevant to the needs of the community.
– Strive to manage financial and human resources in order to demonstrate good stewardship.
– Collaborate through strategic partnerships to strengthen The Bridge’s position as a thought leader in services to youth and families.
– Develop loyal and generous donors and volunteers who demonstrate a sense of ownership in fulfilling The Bridge’s mission.About Run Walk Bark:
The Bridge is proud to announce the first annual Run Walk Bark 5k Race/1k Dog Walk/Fun & Games fundraiser on Sunday, June 28, 2009 at Brook Run Park in Dunwoody, from 7:30am to 12:00pm. Run Walk Bark is a family focused and pet friendly event to benefit The Bridge’s Animal Assisted Therapy Program. In the therapy program dogs help youth who have been physically and sexually abused learn coping skills and find a sense of security and comfort with themselves and others.
The 5K Run and 1K Dog Walk registration is $20 per runner/walker in advance or $25 after June 23. The 5k Run will begin at 7:30am. The 1k Dog Walk will begin at 8:30am and game stations will open at 8:00am. We encourage you to form a team with your friends, office or civic club! Teams can raise additional contributions; the suggested team pledge is $350, which supports one week of Animal Assisted Therapy. Registration is available online at Active.com.
Prizes will be awarded in the 5K Race to the overall male and female winner, male and female winners in age groups from 11-14 to 80+. Ribbons will be distributed to youth participants in the 100 yard dash. Awards will also be given to the top three fundraising teams.
We anticipate 500 participants in this first annual event to benefit The Bridge. Come and Run, Walk or Bark with us to help teenagers in Atlanta, or make a donation to The Bridge!
This is a great organization and all the money raised goes towards a good cause. Mark your calendar, you don’t want to miss out on this fun event. If you can’t make it but would like to make a donation to The Bridge you can do so online.
