Due to the presence of mold, longtime premium dog-food maker Bil-Jac has issued a voluntary “withdrawal” of 256 cases of its 6-pound bags of Adult Select Formula Dog Food –which you can take to mean a “recall,” if you so choose. The difference in terms is mainly one of marketing.
The withdrawal was sparked by presence of mold in bags, caused by a higher moisture content in the dog food. The company says it has only had a few reports of mold, and claims “to known the entire batch has not been affected,” yet they’re recalling the entire batch, which consists of 256 cases.
The withdrawal affects 6-pound bags Adult Select Formula Dog Food, belonging to batch number 1792-02, with an expiration date of 27 DEC 13.
We have requested that a select number of retailers withdraw one small batch (256 cases) of 6 LB Adult Select Formula Dog Food from their warehouses and stores. We have had a few reports of mold in bags from this batch that was caused by higher moisture content in the food. We know the entire batch has not been affected, but have requested the entire small batch to be removed from warehouses and stores.
