Thanks to the Christ Church Beaurepaire in Beaconsfield, near Montreal, you can bring your dog to church with you.
While it’s not unusual for many of the Anglican churches to have a once a year blessing of the animals, usually on the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, it’s not easy to find a regular service to attend.
The church is trying out a once a month Paws and Prayers service on a four month trial basis to see if they have enough attendees to continue. The idea came from church member Johanne Tasse, who also happens to be the president of Companion Animals Adoption Centers of Quebec. According to the UPI.com news Tasse said, “Animals deserve our care and respect. If we can bring dogs to church, how can we turn around and abuse them?”
I praise, no pun intended, the Christ Church Beaurepaire for being so open to the idea and giving it a try.
