These three little Pugs cock their heads in unison, pretending they understand what their human is saying. He could say, “Shall we go to the vet and get a shot?” or “Would you like to take a bath?” and the little Pug on the right would still turn his head and wag his tail.

Do you think dogs think the same thing about us when they bark and we cock our heads and ask them if little Timmy is stuck in the well? Do you think they say to each other, “Ah, my human is so cute, he doesn’t understand a word I’m saying!”

Despite our language barriers, we manage to get along quite famously. Maybe it’s a language that isn’t spoken, but more intuitive, one we’ve developed from hundreds of years of co-existence.
