Check out Pet Connection’s Liveblog of yesterday’s press conference for more information on our systemic food poisoning by Chinese exporters and American importers.
The FDA and USDA guys finally reveal some names of hatcheries and some kinds of fish affected. ALthough the officials skimmed through some hatchery names in the press conference, I still have not seen anything in print. Think they’re trying to protect some hatcheries? BTW, their risk assessment claiming that we can safely eat the tainted fish is based on the idea that we have never eaten fish tainted with poisons like these. What do you think the chances are that any of us over the age of maybe four have never eaten tainted fish?
And notice that although the Chinese officials are supposedly playing nice now, by the time they let the American inspectors in, they had dismantled the equipment and moved as much evidence out of reach as possible.
Its still a CYA fest at USDA and FDA!
Kudos to the Pet Connection blog for great notes!
