At Dogster’s World Headquarters, we get to try a good number of pet products on for size – some come in the mail, some make their way home from trade shows and others are paid for out of our own pockets. Here, for your reading pleasure, are some of our favorite fashion-forward leashes (in no particular order), hand-picked by the staff at HQ.

1. Sit Up ‘N’ Beg’s Soft Leather Leash – Holy buttery-soft material, Batman. Sit Up ‘N’ Beg makes some of the highest-quality leather collars, harnesses for those of us with power pullers (here I shall raise my hand) and matching leashes around. The creamy material makes walking a sweeter experience for both walker and walkee. We were further sold by the unique swivel feature near the end of the lead that helps prevent tangling (so your dog can run in circles without twisting your end of the line).

2. The Shabby Dog’s Hands-Free Leash – Who says you need to look drab while walking the dog? This one is for the fashion hounds with fashion-forward pooches in their lives. It doesn’t get fancier than the Shabby Dog’s hands-free leash set, which features a wrist cuff (and sometimes, studs, bling or even a watch) and a thick quality leather lead in a lovely array of colors and styles.

P.S. While testing this one out at HQ, we noted that the cuff was an OK replacement for a leash handle when a small or well-behaved dog was on the end of the leash, but it was a bit of a strain on our test walker when a strong puller was involved.

3. The Laughing Leash – If you’ve always hated long leashes that drag and find retractable leashes to be a pain, this one is a luxury. The Laughing Leash is tangle- and drag-free, and despite its small size, can extend six feet. (The cushioned handle and fancy fabric choices aren’t shabby either.) A portion of this products proceeds are donated to the Humane Society and shelters around the U.S., and who doesn’t love that?

Trixie+K9Closet

4. K9 Closet’s Leash Collection – K9 Closet has so many pretty prints and patters to choose from that some pups (like Trixie Wilson, pictured above with her haul) can’t stop collecting them! We’re fans of the “Smoothie” collection, which features collars and leashes that are sherpa lined with a lovely fleece cover. Prices are reasonable at K9 Closet and we’re always on the lookout for sales, announced via the company blog.

P.S. Another item worthy of note on the K9 Closet site is the “family lead,” which lets you walk more than one dog at once.

What are your favorite places (online or off) to get leashes and collars, Dogsters?
