Family In Mourning For Their Dog
How horrible for this dog’s family!
And don’t miss the part at the end where the shelter director offers to let the dog’s family have another dog at no charge. That’s like saying to her that one dog is just like another! How insensitive! I guess its the best they can do.

Workers quit after wrong dog euthanized
The Courier-Journal
One Metro Animal Services worker has resigned and a second has been demoted after a pit bull being kept in quarantine was mistakenly euthanized at the county animal shelter.
It was a terrible mistake,” said Allison Martin, spokeswoman for Mayor Jerry Abramsons administration.
The administration wouldnt release the names of the two Metro Animal Services employees because it is a personnel matter, Martin said.
She said both employees had been on the staff for less than a year.
Martin said Louisville resident Barbara Reed was advised by police to quarantine er pit bull after it allegedly bit a child Sept. 26.
The dog was put in a kennel at the Animal Shelter with a similar looking pit bull and, under shelter procedures, would have been eligible to be picked up after 10 days.
On Oct. 4, Reeds dog was euthanized instead of its kennel mate, which had been scheduled to be put down, Martin said. The employees, she said, did not follow the proper protocol, which includes double- and triple-checking the paperwork on the kennel and in the record. That was not done.”
Martin said the shelter has told Reed that she can adopt another dog at no charge, if she wants. Reed could not be reached for comment.
