I got this email from the lady that rescued our dear Abby about Lone Star Boxer Rescue having tough finacial times. Maybe some Dogster folks can help out.

Please pass on.

Dear Friends and fellow Dog Rescuers:

It is with great sadness that I have to send out this email. The organization I volunteer for, Lone Star Boxer Rescue, is no longer able to rescue any more boxers. We are too far in debt and do not have enough foster homes or sponsors. Because we have ALWAYS found room for one more dog, we are now in this current situation.

My plea to all of you is three-fold. If you can make a generous donation to LSBR, sponsor a dog’s vet costs, or possibly foster, please do so now. Never before has LSBR considered shutting down its operation but unfortunately, if our situation doesn’t improve, LSBR will be forced to do so. Our core volunteers/Board members are drained emotionally, physically and financially.

Please consider making a donation today so that we can continue our rescue work. We have placed hundreds of boxers and other breeds in wonderful homes, saving them from the fate of euthanasia. We have spent thousands of dollars on vet bills to repair broken legs, treat heartworms and mange, etc. Our attitude has always been to rescue the dog and then we will figure out where it will go and how we will pay for it. We just can’t operate like that anymore.

My other request goes to those of you in dog rescue that do a wonderful job of sending out emails regarding dogs in need of rescue. Until our situation improves (hopefully), I ask that you please do not send me any emails regarding dogs in need, especially boxers. I just don’t have the fortitude to see their faces, knowing that we cannot help them. I know I speak for all of our volunteers when I say how heartbroken we are to have to make these requests.

My final request is that you please forward this email to anyone you know who loves animals, especially boxers, that may be willing to make a contribution to our organization.

PLEASE help us reopen our doors to all the boxers in need here in Houston. There are so many, all depending on their best friend, man/woman, to help them.

Blessings to all of you,
Ann Callan
LSBR Volunteer
